#Joyathon2016: 'Tis The Season with Shana Galen (@shanagalen)

Meet Shana Galen

Shana Galen is three-time Rita award nominee and the bestselling author of passionate Regency romps, including the RT Reviewers' Choice The Making of a Gentleman. Kirkus says of her books, "The road to happily-ever-after is intense, conflicted, suspenseful and fun," and RT Bookreviews calls her books “lighthearted yet poignant, humorous yet touching." She taught English at the middle and high school level off and on for eleven years. Most of those years were spent working in Houston's inner city. Now she writes full time. She's happily married and has a daughter who is most definitely a romance heroine in the making.

In Houston, Texas we only have about 10 days of real winter and those days aren’t even one right after the other. Our winter is what most of the country would consider autumn, so my favorite winter activities are more what you might consider fall activites.
  • The Renaissance Festival
Every year I take my daughter to the Renaissance Festival. It’s held every weekend from October-November in a little town called Todd Mission, Texas. The fairgrounds are huge. They have a jousting field, five or six stages, tons of games and rides, and lots of food and drink. My daughter loves the games and rides, and I like the music. One of my favorite groups, Tartanic, plays every year. And the shopping is amazing. You can find the most beautiful, handmade Celtic-themed jewelry.
  • Fun Runs
Winter is the running season in Houston. No one races in the summer because it’s simply too hot. But from October-January there’s a race every weekend. It’s fun to run with friends and take my daughter to the 1Ks. Of course, there’s lots of music, food, and drink.
  • The Nutcracker
This is new to my list. My daughter has always been too young to go to the Nutcracker, and ballet is not my favorite type of theater. But this year she really wanted to go (thanks to the Barbie movie) and it was really fun for the whole family. I love dressing up and going to the theater.
  • Dining al fresco
Most of the year in Houston we run from air conditioned house to air conditioned car to air conditioned restaurant. In the winter we can actually turn off the air conditioning for a few days and dine outside. And, of course, if the temperatures start to dip below 70, every restaurant has heaters to keep us cozy.
  • Reading
The best thing about the winter is taking a break during the holidays and enjoying reading some books I’ve had on my TBR list. I love holiday-themed books, especially those set in places where they have snow. But I especially love turning the AC way down, sitting in front of the fake fire on the TV screen, sipping hot tea, and snuggling with a great book.

However you celebrate winter and the holidays, happy reading!

Two hot heroes to keep you warm on the long winter nights...

There’s no such thing as the perfect hero…

Nathan Cauley, Duke of Wyndover, is so handsome ladies swoon—but Nathan doesn’t want a fawning miss for his duchess. Then he stumbles upon a filthy young woman sleeping under a bridge, and his protective instincts are raised. When he recognizes her as the woman he loved years before, he’s determined to win back her heart.

Or is there?

Princess Vivienne is the last of the royal family of Glynaven. Vivienne is all alone and on the run when the Duke of Wyndover comes to her rescue. Vivienne barely remembers meeting him years before, and wonders if he is any more than a pretty face. But when the assassins return, Nathan might just prove to be the man Vivienne’s been waiting for.

When it’s cold outside…

Prince Lucien of Glynaven spends the cold winter days in a small bookshop, searching for a book that's the key to saving his life. When Lady Cassandra Ashbrooke comes in to shop, her lovely face is almost enough to make him give up his search. But when assassins track him, he must end the budding romance and abandon his last chance at ever reclaiming his identity.

A prince is just the man to make Christmas a little more cozy.

When the widowed Lady Cassandra catches a glimpse of an attractive man in her favorite bookshop, she decides to meet him, hoping to add a small spark of excitement into her dull life. Soon the prince’s kisses are more passionate than Cass can imagine. But with danger closing in on all sides, is it too late for a holiday miracle?
