After a tragic incident in Afghanistan leaves Master Sergeant Nathan Ryker the only man standing in his tight-knit team, he spirals into an alcohol-and-sex induced escape. A call from his lifelong buddy pulls Ryker from the shadows with a request for help with his stunt company’s latest blockbuster. If Ryker can survive the next three weeks of leave and get back to his remaining men, he might just be all right. But a sexy woman who can take his mind off his trauma is too hard to resist, and when he hooks up with Renegades’ sultry, snarky office manager, his sanity takes a backseat to his first glimpse of a future he isn’t sure he deserves.

Still reeling from a bitter romantic betrayal, Rachel Hart wants nothing more than an uncomplicated hookup. So when the mysterious Nathan seduces her with a little dirty talk and one delicious kiss, Rachel drowns all her good sense in a Mandarin and soda and gives herself over to a night of sexual bliss. But her memories tarnish in the morning light when Rachel discovers his real identity and his link to Renegades. Her job and her friends are the only thing holding her life together, and she won’t be ruined by one sultry night with this damaged and dangerously sexy man.

REVIEW:

Hot. Damn. It’s a good thing I had the AC on because this book is hot. Explosive really… and not just because Ryker’s specialty is explosives.

Rachel Hart has been busy with work for Renegades, a stunt company. What she needs is a break from all the paperwork and ridiculous tasks, such as picking up the newest consultant from the airport. After getting stuck in traffic and missing the new crew member she meets a very sexy stranger at the airport bar. A night of dirty, hot sex is just what she needs. Nathan Ryker probably should’ve mentioned that he was guy she was supposed to pick up but he was not going to miss out on what was looking to be a night of mind-blowing sex.

Rachel has one rule: do not get involved with the men you work with. So after an incredible night with Nathan she is surprised when he shows up for work the next day. Despite their night together, Rachel decides that continuing sleeping with Ryker would be bad. Ryker, on the other hand, thinks it would amazing and plans to change her mind.

Oh, Ryker. What a dirty mouth he has. I loved it. Ryker is more than just a bad ass, sexy Army Ranger who just happens to defuse bombs. He suffers from a pretty bad case of PTSD and seeing this strong man suffering was heart breaking. The way he was with the men from his unit had tears welling in my eyes. Ricochet was more emotional than I was expecting. I think there are many PTSD military heroes out there but Ryker’s story held more depth.

I wish that there was more about Rachel’s history. We get bits and pieces but I just wanted to understand her more. Though I really liked her. She is smart, sassy, and stubborn. But she also has this innate kindness to her. She wants to take care of everyone, and especially Ryker even though he tries to keep her at arms length.

I will definitely be looking into more books from Skye Jordan. This was one of my favorite books I’ve read so far this year.
