Night After Night is part of the Seductive Nights erotic romance series. The series begins with First Night, a novella that introduces us to our hero and heroine. That novella was included in the ARC I received for review and is available for free on Amazon at the time of this writing.

Night After Night follows the story of Julia, part owner and full time bartender of The Cubic Z in San Francisco. Thanks to a lying, cheating ex, Julia is saddled with the additional burden of a large debt to Charlie, loan shark and all-around jerk. With all that’s going on in her life, all Julia wants (and has time for) is a one-night stand, if she can find one, with a man who has a brain and eight hard inches.

Enter Clay Nichols.

A New York-based entertainment lawyer on the West Coast for client meetings walks into Julia’s bar and into her pants. Clay is ruggedly good-looking, witty, and totally hot for the fiery redhead he meets at the bar. What follows is an incredibly hot, tangled, push-and-pull romance between the two that has enough heat to melt your kindle.

I enjoyed this book so much I bought the final book After This Night so I could see how it all played out. The story was well-planned, the plot twists unexpected, and the sex was incendiary. Not a single scene relied on clich├ęd language, props, euphemisms or action. Both characters were comfortable in their sexuality and shared equally in every encounter. It was so incredibly refreshing to read equal opportunity sex scenes! Not one always dominating the other, not one controlling the speed/action/emotion. If you want to read good quality erotica without BDSM and fetishism clogging the pages, this book is for you. You will root for Clay and Julia to find a way through their troubles to their own happy ending (pun intended).

There are two reasons why I didn’t give this book five hearts, and they are entirely a matter of personal opinion. First, I detest when obstacles exist only in one character’s head. Julia is completely misguided in the reason she keeps the secrets she does and it is frustrating that a smart person can make such stupid choices. This gets corrected in the final book but it was too late for me. The second reason was that I hate when one good novel is split into two pieces. I shouldn’t have to buy another book to finish a single story. I realize why authors do it; I don’t have to agree with it. Was the series worth the 4.99 I paid for the last book? Absolutely. But I resented that I had to buy it to get those final puzzle pieces.

Favorite Quote:
“Are you giving me an order?” She asked curiously, pushing her fingers through her hair that was still messy from sex. But she’d never minded sex hair. As far as she was concerned, it was a look that should be listed on the menu at all blow out salons. Updo, blown straight, or sex hair? I’ll take the sex hair, thank you very much.
“I’m giving you a request. One that I very much want you to fulfill,” he said, grabbing her hand and bringing her palm to his lips. He kissed her, his tongue soft and wet against her skin. She’d never expected being kissed on her palm would be so erotic, but it was, because everything about Clay was charged with his smoldering virility, like a trailing scent of lingering sexiness that surrounded him.
