He's in for the fight of his life . . .
Army captain Trent Davila loved his wife, Laura, and their two beautiful children. But when he almost lost his life in combat, something inside him died. He couldn't explain the emptiness he felt or bridge the growing distance between him and his family—so he deployed again. And again. And again . . . until his marriage reached its breaking point. Now, with everything on the line, Trent has one last chance to prove to his wife that he can be the man she needs . . . if she'll have him
. . . to win back his only love.
Laura is blindsided when Trent returns home. Time and again, he chose his men over his family, and she's just beginning to put the pieces of her shattered heart back together. But when Trent faces a court martial on false charges, only Laura can save him. What begins as an act of kindness to protect his career inflames a desire she thought long buried—and a love that won't be denied. But can she trust that this time he's back to stay?

Finally, Trent and Laura’s story is revealed. If you have read this series, which I highly recommend, you know many of the hints and small reveals of this troubled couple.
Trent is finally home from the war, although his return is tarnished by a pending fraudulent court martial. He returns a man broken by war, ready and willing to deal with the chaos of battle; he’s unable to connect with his children and wife. The normal sounds and noise of children playing terrify him. He knows he is losing his wife and family, however he has no idea how to fight for him. He’s spent 10 years fighting for the Army, can he fight for those he loves?
Laura has been the model of a strong Army wife and mother, but even the strongest can only remain that way for so long. When allegations of cheating, a court martial and the realization that Trent has been volunteering for multiple deployments become too much for her and she files for divorce.
“Once she would have waited forever for him to come home to her. But forever was a long time. And her faith in their love had died long ago on some distant battlefield.”Laura denies to herself how much she still loves her husband, protecting her heart and children. When Trent finally begins to let her see him, the real him, the man she fell in love with that she thought was lost in the war and internal battle between her heart and head are constant.
This is an amazing read that stays with you long after you finish the last page. Jessica Scott draws you into the souls of her characters and brings to light the troubles of so many of our military as they return home.
