He's in for the fight of his life . . .
Army captain Trent Davila loved his wife, Laura, and their two beautiful children. But when he almost lost his life in combat, something inside him died. He couldn't explain the emptiness he felt or bridge the growing distance between him and his family—so he deployed again. And again. And again . . . until his marriage reached its breaking point. Now, with everything on the line, Trent has one last chance to prove to his wife that he can be the man she needs . . . if she'll have him
. . . to win back his only love.
Laura is blindsided when Trent returns home. Time and again, he chose his men over his family, and she's just beginning to put the pieces of her shattered heart back together. But when Trent faces a court martial on false charges, only Laura can save him. What begins as an act of kindness to protect his career inflames a desire she thought long buried—and a love that won't be denied. But can she trust that this time he's back to stay?

I remember the first time I picked up a Jessica Scott book. It was her first release, Because of You. I was in the middle of one of my reading binges. This one was military romances. I was all like bring on the men in uniform! And someone mentioned Jessica Scott and it all began.
Back To You is a story that I’ve been waiting for and dreading at the same time. We first meet Laura and Trent Davila in her first book. They are married and happy, well as happy you can be when you’re a military family in the middle of a war. Then as the story progresses you learn things that pull you in and break your heart for this couple that were background characters. So, yes I wanted their story, but I was scared because it knew it wasn’t going to be your run of the mill military romance.
Back To You gives us the story we were missing. The fact that Trent almost died, in fact he was dead, and how it affected not only him but also his wife. So while Trent is off fighting, Laura is at home raising two young children. But what Laura didn’t know was that Trent was volunteering to go back to the front lines. Then she discovers that he’s under investigation. The fragile relationship she’s been trying to hold together falls apart.
Laura had enough. She is broken. Having Trent back in her life threatens to break her even more. But she loves him and if helping is what’s going to get rid of the false charges then she’ll do it. Now, Trent is back home, but not really. Yes, he loves his wife and he loves his children. Ever since being shot all those years ago he doesn’t know how to be home. But if he wants his wife back then he needs to learn how to be home.
Trent and Laura basically need to get reacquainted with each other. Trent needs to learn who is children are. None of that is easy and of course there are some troubles that pop up. But the thing is the Trent tries and Laura is understanding. Yes, they butt heads. Yes, they are both hurt and it’s not easy. I think that’s what I like about the story. It’s real. And heartbreaking. But so rewarding.
Back To You is exactly was it sounds like. It is two people trying to find their way back to each other. Trying to work through their problems and what’s best for everyone involved. It is not an easy story. It’s rough and emotional and real.
*Why there were many heart breaking quotes, I’d figure I’d leave you with something funny. *
“I mean, I didn’t run screaming from the house like a Muppet of acid or anything so we can take that as a win, right?”
