When friends become lovers . . .
Firefighter and former Marine Jackson Wilder has tough guy down to an art, but he’s learned the hard way that promises were made to be broken. Abigail Morgan was once his best friend, his first kiss, his first love, his first everything. He’d just forgotten to mention all that to her and she blew out of his life. Five years later, she’s back and he’s battling a load of mistrust for her disappearing act. But for some reason he just can’t keep his lips—or his hands—to himself.
It can lead to disaster or . . .
When her stint as a trophy wife abruptly ends, Abby returns home to Sweet, Texas, and comes face-to-face with Jackson—her biggest and sexiest mistake. Time and distance did nothing to squash her love for the act-first-think-later stubborn hunk of a man, and when he suggests they renew their old just-friends vow, Abby realizes she wants more. She’d cut and run once. Could she do it again? Or could she tempt him enough to break his promise?

This is my second Candis Terry book and it reminded me how much I enjoy her writing.
Sweetest Mistake is a sexy, sweet story about two childhood best friends who went their separate ways and after failed marriages to other people, get back together.
Abigail Morgan left Sweet, Texas after getting her heart broken by Jackson Wilder straight into the arms of her now ex-husband. Jackson Wilder returns home after fighting overseas and Abigail Morgan is gone.
Abby lived in Houston as a trophy wife of sorts. Her husband controlled everything she did, from what she wore to what she ate to what she did with her time. Anything to make him look good in the eyes of Houston society.
Jackson gets a woman pregnant and his mama raised him to do the right thing. He marries her. They have a very cute little girl who they both love very much. But Jackson's job as a firefighter takes up too much of his time so he and his wife's relationship is strained. They get a divorce but still remain as friends. I found this dynamic quite refreshing. Usually, the ex is crazy and tries to keep the couple apart.
When Abby returns to Sweet, Jackson still has feelings for her. Abby thought she had gotten over Jackson. Nope. The super hot sexual tension between these two could start a fire. They have the whole, will they/won't they thing to a science.
If you're looking for a book that has the perfect balance of sweet and sexy, pick up Sweetest Mistake.
They'd leaned on each other when they'd both gone through divorces. Lost their man cards by whining a time or two. And they never failed to razz the other whenever the opportunity arose.
