{Kati #Review} Contemporary Romance: Mine Under The Mistletoe by Kat Latham

Genre: Contemporary Romance
Format: ebook via Netgalley
Length: 77 pages
Publisher: Carina Press (December 5, 2013)

Thanks to a transatlantic house swap, California girl Ashley Turner is finally going to fulfill her lifelong dream of a proper English Christmas. Her holiday plans did not include a sexy stranger climbing into her borrowed bed in the middle of the night. But in the light of day, Ashley can’t help but wonder if Santa has delivered early…

Game designer Oliver Stansfeld can’t wait to leave dreary London—and all its difficult holiday memories—for sunny San Diego. But a freak ice storm and a grounded plane have forced him back to his already-occupied flat. To make up for the mix-up, the least he can do is show his pretty houseguest where to get the perfect Christmas tree before he leaves.

The more time they spend together, the more their attraction grows, and soon Ashley is tempting Oliver to give in to the spirit of the season and snuggle up for the rest of the winter. As the ice melts and flights start taking off again, he must choose between giving in to the past or risking his heart on a chance at love.

Confession: I haven't read any Kat Latham books but my partner in crime has. She absolutely loved Knowing the Score so when the opportunity to read Mine Under the Mistletoe came up, I thought, why not? I wanted something short to read since I don't have much reading time these days.

Ashley Turner wakes up to a man climbing in bed with her and accidentally knocking his family jewels. To top it off, he's British and completely starkers. For a moment she's a bit disoriented but then realizes she's in the home of the guy who she swapped with for the holidays. Except he's still there thanks to an ice storm that has grounded all flights.

Oliver "Ollie" Stansfield isn't a fan of Christmas and everything that goes with it—the lights, the tree, hot chocolate. None of it. He's had a hard time since his sister passed away and he's always blamed himself for what happened to her.

I couldn't stop laughing, sighing and silently cheering these two on as they try not to fall in love. Between Ashley celebrating her first official Christmas and Ollie trying to get away from it all, they have to find a common ground. Let go of the past and try to make their own future. I've always loved the magic of the holidays and this story affirms that for the romantic in me.

Take one part The Holiday, throw in a little bit of Scrooge, mix with a bit of a rom-com vibe, begin with a laughtastic 'meet cute', and you've got Mine Under the Mistletoe. Kat Latham has cemented herself on my auto buy list.

Favorite Quote:
Ashley knew she should protest, tell him not to start a fight on her behalf, but oh my God a hot British guy was calling someone a wanker for her! It was the modern equivalent of having a man fight a duel in her honor. If he wasn't careful, she'd swoon on him.
