December Joyathon 2013: Sophie Barnes' 12 Romance Heroes of Christmas + #Giveaway (US)

Sophie Barnes first delighted us with the scandalously laugh-out-loud story of HOW MISS RUTHERFORD GOT HER GROOVE BACK (fun title, isn't it?). This holiday season she'll take us to the ball and show us THE SCANDAL IN KISSING AN HEIR.

Meet Sophie:
Born in Denmark, Sophie has spent her youth traveling with her parents to wonderful places all around the world. She’s lived in five different countries, on three different continents, and speaks Danish, English, French, Spanish and Romanian.

She has studied design in Paris and New York and has a bachelor’s degree from Parson’s School of design, but most impressive of all – she’s been married to the same man three times, in three different countries and in three different dresses.

While living in Africa, Sophie turned to her lifelong passion – writing.
When she’s not busy, dreaming up her next romance novel, Sophie enjoys spending time with her family, swimming, cooking, gardening, watching romantic comedies and, of course, reading. She currently lives on the East Coast.

Sophie's 12 Romance Heroes

In putting together my favorite heroes, I decided to step away from the expected. After all, we know that Mr. Darcy or Mr. Rochester will probably take the number one hero of all time trophy, so here is a list of heroes that I’ve fallen in love with in recent years. In each case, it wasn’t just the hero who was irresistible, but the story itself – these heroes come from books that I have truly enjoyed reading, some of which I’ve even read more than once. So settle back and enjoy, and if there are any books here that you haven’t yet read, I recommend adding them to your TBR pile =)

Viscount Turner: The Secret Diaries of Miss Miranda Cheever by Julia Quinn
A man whose heart and soul have been crushed by a treacherous woman, this man deserves to find true love, in spite of some bad decisions he makes along the way. But he realizes his mistakes, grows as a man, and completely redeems himself by the end.

Colin Bridgerton: Romancing Mr. Bridgerton by Julia Quinn
Oh, but I do have a soft spot for this man. The way in which he stands up for Penelope in front of her family (who has a very low opinion of her), gives him high ratings in my book!

The Marquess of Bourne: A Rogue By Any Other Name by Sarah MacLean
A true rogue with nothing but revenge on his mind, this hero is quite unlikeable in the beginning, but love eventually prevails and heals his jaded heart.

Lord Blackwood: When A Scott Loves A Lady by Katharine Ashe
Well, Lord Blackwood was just spectacular with his rough-around-the-edges disguise and that incredibly sexy accent. Turns out he cleans up nice too and saves the day!

The Duke of Preston: Along Came A Duke by Elizabeth Boyle
He is just delicious – a troublemaking rake who rescues the damsel in distress.

The Duke of Parkerton: Mad About The Duke by Elizabeth Boyle
There was just something so utterly charming about this duke unintentionally disguising himself as a solicitor. More so when he gets his feather’s ruffled over Lady Elinor Standon not including him on her list of eligible dukes to consider marrying.

Lord Gareth: The Wild One by Danelle Harmon
An irresponsible rake with the best of intentions, this hero will do whatever it takes (including reform) in order to stand by his brother’s widow so her daughter can gain the name she deserves.

The Earl of Marchant: When Beauty Tamed The Beast by Eloisa James
He’s grumpy and bad tempered, so watching his heart soften as he falls unexpectedly in love just makes you want cheer him on.

Sebastian Harcourt (Captain Cutlass): The Rogue Pirate’s Bride by Shana Galen
He’s a pirate! Need I say more? Well, okay, he’s not really a pirate, but a privateer who falls in love with an admiral’s daughter and will do whatever it takes to win her, even though her father wants to see him hanged. There’s plenty of opportunity for Captain Cutlass to shine amidst swordfights, danger and intrigue. Swoon =)

Vicar Adam Sylvaine: A Notorious Countess Confesses by Julie Anne Long
It’s impossible not to fall in love with this man as he stands by a fallen woman, offering her the friendship she craves (and eventually so much more) at the risk of being shunned by the community he loves.

Lord Tristan Easton: Lord Of Temptation by Lorraine Heath
A hero with a tragic past who’s also a privateer…just plain yummy =)

Rafe Bancroft: Taming Rafe by Suzanne Enoch
Though desperate to leave England behind, this rogue of a hero ends up rebuilding an estate he won at cards – all because of his love for the lady who still resides there. Swoon worthy or what?
