December Joyathon 2013: Nicole Flockton's 12 Romance Heroes of Christmas + #Giveaway (ebook)

Today we're getting a visit from Down Under via Texas today from the wonderful Nicole Flockton. She's brought a couple of Aussies to celebrate our Joyathon. Her books are filled with sexy alpha heroes and sassy independent heroines.

Meet Nicole:
On her very first school report her teacher said ‘Nicole likes to tell her own stories’.

It wasn’t until after the birth of her first child and after having fun on a romance community forum that she finally decided to take the plunge and write a book.
The stories she writes are contemporary romances with either a medical setting or in the boardrooms of high powered businesses. She enjoys taking two characters and creating unique situations for them.

Apart from writing Nicole is busy looking after her very own hero – her wonderfully supportive husband, and two fabulous kids.

Nicole's 12 Romance Heroes

Ok I admit it I’m a heathen when it comes to reading the classics, I haven’t read Wuthering Heights, Pride or Prejudice or any of those other classic books. Why, well I don’t know they seemed too long when I first started reading romance. I had a short attention span LOL so most of my Romance Heroes will come from movies or TV shows.

So here goes, my 12 months of Romance Heroes.

January – Hugh Jackman
What? I have to start the month off with an Aussie and why not Hugh?? LOL He is the epitome of Alpha male when he’s playing Wolverine. Wolverine is totally in love with Jean and when he can’t have his mate, he struggles to go on. Also the fact that Hugh is an amazing father and husband definitely makes him a hero in my book.

February – Leonardo DiCaprio
Who can forget Jack in Titanic? He risked it all for the woman he fell in love with at first sight. Not to mention he played a wonderful Romeo in the movie, Romeo and Juliet.

March – Patrick Swayze
The man played two romantic heroes first as Johnny in Dirty Dancing, he uttered that magic line “Nobody puts Baby in the corner”. Then as the wonderful Sam in Ghost – the man who loved but didn’t want to let go.

April – Luciano Morelli – Bound by Her Ring
I’ve throw in the hero from my second release. The reason I included him was that he was my first hero I ever wrote and no one ever forgets their first. He’s Alpha and sexy and so yummy.

May – Mr Darcy – Pride & Prejudice
I admit I haven’t read the book but I’ve heard that there is nothing quite like Mr Darcy so I decided that I must include him.

June – Rhett Butler – Gone with the Wind
I watched the movie and there’s nothing quite like the impressive Rhett Butler. Probably my first introduction to an Alpha male. He also had a classic line too – “Frankly my darling, I don’t give a damn.” Best exit line ever!!

July – William Thacker – Notting Hill
This character was played by Hugh Grant and he played him so well. Humble yet romantic and put himself in uncomfortable situations – all for love. It’s one of my favourite movies.

August – Zack Mayo – An Officer and A Gentlemen
Played the very handsome Richard Gere, this was one movie that stuck with me and made me dream of being swept off my feet by a true love. Who can forget that final scene when Zack strides through the factory looking drop-dead gorgeous in his Naval uniform *swoon*

September – Gilbert Blythe – Anne of Green Gables
I watched the TV series as a young, impressionable teenager, but we did have the books, I just never read them. I was always hoping that Anne and Gilbert would get together. Anne broke his heart and made him wait endless years but eventually he got his girl and his sheer patience with her is what makes him a true hero in my eyes.

October – Maximus – Gladiator Movie
Maximus was played by Russell Crowe and it earned him an Oscar. This is a man who’s love for his wife and family transcended even death. His ultimate goal for the movie was to avenge their death and be reunited with them. It’s not a hugely romantic movie, but he would do anything for the love he felt for his wife and that makes him a romance hero to me.

November – Mr Knightly – Emma
This one has been suggested to me by fellow author Melinda Dozier. He puts up with Emma’s attempts at matchmaking all while hiding his feelings for her. With his quiet presence he, unbeknown to Emma, infiltrates her heart and when she thinks all is lost she realizes her love and, of course, it’s reciprocated.

December – Chris Hemsworth
I started off with an Aussie and I’m going to finish with an Aussie . I had to include the man who plays the God-Thor and loves his Jane from another realm. Now that’s romantic!

Well there you have it, my calendar of Romantic Heroes. Have I mentioned a favourite of yours? If not, who is your favourite?
