Forever Romance Historical Hookup: Q&A with Elizabeth Hoyt, Anne Barton, Eileen Dreyer, Lily Dalton and Jennifer Delamere + #Giveaway (US)

Dashing dukes, ravishing rakes, enticing earls—Forever is bringing them all to you in their first ever Historical Hookup! They've brought together Elizabeth Hoyt, Eileen Dreyer, Jennifer Delamere, Anne Barton, and Lily Dalton for a very special blog tour and a giveaway you don't want to miss.

Q: “What is your favorite word/phrase that was used often back then but not so much now, and what does it mean?”

Elizabeth Hoyt, DUKE OF MIDNIGHT:
Spill, a twist of paper used to light a fire. Not to be confused with fall, which is a Georgian man's fly.

Eileen Dreyer, ONCE A RAKE:
Fustian! It kinda means, “Baloney!” It's a very satisfying sound on a dowager's tongue..

Jennifer Delamere, A LADY MOST LOVELY:
I love the word “dĂ©colletage,” which describes the low-cut necklines of the gowns that ladies wore to balls and other fancy events. Despite dressing modestly during the day, in the evenings the ladies were free to bare neck and shoulders and make the most of their feminine assets. Unfortunately, I haven’t been able to use this word in my books because I’m usually describing the woman from the hero’s (very approving) point of view and I can’t be sure it’s a word that would be in a man’s vocabulary!

Anne Barton, ONCE SHE WAS TEMPTED:
Ramshackle – it means old and run-down, as in: I can only write if I’m sitting in my ramshackle desk chair. Interestingly, ramshackle can also be used to mean “a thoughtless young fellow,” or “a vulgar woman.” You’ve got to love a word with that kind of versatility.

Lily Dalton, NEVER DESIRE A DUKE:
Flibbertigibbet. The word actually precedes the Regency, but was in use then and it means a silly, talkative, frivolous person. Try to say it fast, ten times in a row! I dare you!

Meet Anne: Anne Barton began swiping romance novels off her mom's bookshelf as a teenager, so when she had the chance to spend a semester in London-home to her favorite heroes-she packed her bags and promptly fell in love with the city, its history, and its pubs. She dreamed of writing romance, but somehow ended up a software analyst instead.

Fortunately, a few years and a few careers later, Anne found her way back to writing the stories she loves and in 2011 won the Romance Writers of America's Golden Heart® for Regency Historical Romance. She lives in Maryland with her husband (who, sadly, is not a peer of the realm-but a great guy nonetheless) and her three children, who try valiantly not to roll their eyes whenever she quotes Jane Austen. Her weaknesses include reality TV, cute-but-impractical shoes, and caffeinated beverages of all kinds.
