It is the year 2070. Generations ago, the world was annihilated by catastrophic environmental events. The survivors were driven to live in big city centers ruled by the Company. To rebuild the world’s population, the oppressive Company had one rule: all homosexuals must be exterminated.
Commander Caspar Cannon has a stellar military reputation—and a life-threatening secret. When a revolution rips through the territories, Cannon is ordered to escort Company executive Nathaniel Rice to a secure location. For months, the commander has harbored illicit desire for Rice, knowing he cannot act on his attraction. Privileged, polished, and groomed to one day take over the Company, Rice is drawn to the rugged, military man. Yet Rice has his own mysterious agenda, and he knows their love can be as dangerous as the wasteland they must traverse.
Now leaving the besieged city behind, the two men embark on a journey that becomes a minefield of sabotage, betrayal—and forbidden passion. But when danger catches up to them, can Cannon trust the secretive man who holds his heart—and his fate?

It's 1984 meets Brave New World with a side of Dredd. A dystopian society, the population of the world put into different sectors, chaos, control, the fight what is right and in the middle of it all, a romance between two unlikely souls.
It's been a while since I've read an M/M romance—the last one turned me off—so when Forever contacted me about reviewing In His Command, I jumped at the chance. The blurb had me at illicit desire and clinched me at sabotage and betrayal.
Reasons To Read:
- Man on man action...If you're a fan of M/M romances, grab this book and read. The smexing is all sorts of hot. For six months, Caspar has been totally eyefucking Blondie aka Nathaniel Rice and now on his birthday, things get physical. Fast forward a few days after all hell breaks loose and Caspar is transporting Blondie to the Outpost, HOLY PANTYMELTER!
- Unique voice...This is told in first person. Caspar's point of view. He's got such a foul mouth that I fell in love the first two pages. I think you will too if you love a guy who curses like a sailor. I looked at my highlighted notes and there's some gems like these:
He had some kind of presence that tipped my guns. Including the one in my pants.
"But c'mon in. You want a drink?"
Damn southerners and their bullshit charm.
"Look, Blondie. I'm not asking you to bottom, just to navigate."
- Road trip. I love a good road trip romance. Why? 1)Two people are thrown together for a period of time and hilarity can and will ensue. 2)Somewhere along the way, there will be smoldering looks, touching and some major sexiness. 3)The description of the places visited during the journey sound like fun places to visit if it were real life. Maybe.
- Fast paced action. Most of the time the action is fast, hard and hot. And by action, I mean in and out of bed.
The only issue I had with this book was that at times it was a bit crude or that the author had a thesaurus open and tried to find other words for body parts and functions.
Oh. My. Stars. Look out world! Rie Warren will rock your socks and make you want to be in a Cannon and Blondie sandwich when you're done reading this book. Well done Rie Warren, well done. I will definitely read more of your books as well as hot man on man action in general.
The first time he'd ambled to the back and pulled out his badass machete, I almost jumped him on the hood of the truck. It was one hell of a weapon, wielded by one hell of a man.
