WELCOME TO THE BLOG RIE!!!
After earning my degree in Fine Arts, I promptly gave up paintbrushes and canvas for paper and pen (because being a writer is equally as good an idea as being an artist, of course it is). That was fifteen years ago, my writing career started! With a manuscript of super epic proportions! Safely stored under a lace doily in a filing cabinet. Possibly in England . . .
Since then I’ve done this and that, here and there, usually in the nonprofit arena, until I returned to my dream of being a writer. Even though I bask in the glorious southern sunshine as often as I can, I’m mostly a nocturnal creature adjourning to my writer’s atelier (spare bedroom) in search of my next devious plot twist or delicious passionate tryst.
No matter what genre or gender pairing I’m writing, I combine a sexy southern edge with humor and heart–and a taste of darkness. I hope you enjoy!

Jamie and Kati: Hi Rie! Welcome to Romancing Rakes For The Love of Romance.
Rie Warren: Hey, ladies! I’m really excited to be here. You’ve got some fun and entertaining questions, I see.
J&K: Share 5 fun facts about yourself
- I’m anti all things considered domesticated—housework, cooking, crafts…you name it, I’m not a fan of it.
- In spite of the fact I despise being in the kitchen, I’m Food Network addicted. I know, it makes no sense whatsoever. Gotta have my Guy Fieri fix!
- Even though I’m obsessed with Chopped, Triple D, etc., I rarely watch TV (um, unless there’s an SoA marathon on because…Jax Teller/Charlie Hunnam! Am I right? Oh, that would be another obsession).
- I don’t watch TV because I spend most of my nights writing, which essentially makes me a vampire.
- And, I drink red wine instead of blood. Much tastier on the palate.
J&K: What is IN HIS COMMAND about? [no copying blurb :)]
RW: IN HIS COMMAND is the ultimate forbidden love story set against an intense revolutionary backdrop. Two men from different classes are thrown together on a dangerous mission where their love for one another could lead to their deaths.
J&K: What inspired you to write M/M romance?
RW: This is a no-brainer. I decided to write M/M because it’s so hot, of course! Also, I’m greedy. Why stop with one delicious, gorgeous Alpha male when you can have two?
J&K: In one word, describe how you felt when you got “The Call”
J&K: If Hollywood optioned your book into a movie, who would play the lead characters?
RW: I like this question. It requires one of my favorite pastimes: Googling sexy men! Hang tight, I’ll be back in a minute. Shew! Wait…that took two hours? LOL. Well, it was a success anyway. I have the perfect candidate for Nathaniel ‘Blondie’ Rice, y’all are gonna love it. RYAN GOSLING! I hope he’ll take the part; I’d like to see him get nekkie. Commander Caspar Cannon is hard to assign though. He’s such a big, tough badass. I have two options: Josh Duhamel or Liam Hemsworth but in both cases they’d really have to beef up and roughen up. What do you think?
Caspar (Heck, we'd like to be in this Caspar sandwich, sorry RG)
RW: Oh yeah, tons! I usually have to be upstairs in my woman cave. I generally write to a specific song for each chapter (I keep my playlists on YouTube). I have to have all my notes and story graphs spread out. And, I need my fave pen, highlighter, and Burt’s Bees lip balm.
J&K: What’s next for readers? Can you give us a sneak peek into your current WIP?
RW: Absolutely! I’m working on a contemporary right now, the first in a three book (at least) series: Stone: At Your Service. What happens when bad boy mechanic Josh Stone agrees to play his best buddy’s gay lover for a romance writer’s conference…and meets the girl of his dreams?
Alpha or Beta? Alpha
Wallflower or Belle of the Ball? Belle of the Ball
Debutante or Spinster? Spinster
Virgin widow or Secret baby? Virgin widow
Titled peer or Working man? Working man!! Yeah, gimme some of that.

Naval officer or Swashbuckling pirate? Naval officer all the way.
Vampires or Shifters? Vampire
Past, Present or Future? Future!
Writing or Reading? Writing.
Paperbacks or e-books? Ebooks (I’m a sell-out! I switched over a couple years ago and ebooks are just so easy. I’m obviously suffering from guilt about it though)
Plotter or Pantser? I’m a firm believer in plotting first and pantsing second.
Author’s choice: What’s your favorite book of 2013, and why?
J&K: Thanks Rie for stopping by!
RW: My pleasure. Thank you so much for having me!
Genre: M/M Dystopian
Length: 368 pages
Publisher: Forever Yours (August 6, 2013)
It is the year 2070. Generations ago, the world was annihilated by catastrophic environmental events. The survivors were driven to live in big city centers ruled by the Company. To rebuild the world’s population, the oppressive Company had one rule: all homosexuals must be exterminated.
Commander Caspar Cannon has a stellar military reputation—and a life-threatening secret. When a revolution rips through the territories, Cannon is ordered to escort Company executive Nathaniel Rice to a secure location. For months, the commander has harbored illicit desire for Rice, knowing he cannot act on his attraction. Privileged, polished, and groomed to one day take over the Company, Rice is drawn to the rugged, military man. Yet Rice has his own mysterious agenda, and he knows their love can be as dangerous as the wasteland they must traverse.
Now leaving the besieged city behind, the two men embark on a journey that becomes a minefield of sabotage, betrayal—and forbidden passion. But when danger catches up to them, can Cannon trust the secretive man who holds his heart—and his fate?
