Jamie and Kati: Hi Monica! Welcome to Romancing Rakes For The Love of Romance.
Monica Murphy: Hi Kati and Jamie! Thanks for having me as usual – you know how much I love you.
J&K: Share 5 fun facts about yourself
MM: Dude, I am so boring. Okay here we go:
- I have two boys and they’re both named after cheese.
- I’m addicted to diet Coke
- I was the best reader in my Kindergarten class. I took that title seriously and never stopped reading…
- Except for when I was in my mid-twenties until I had my second child (very early thirties). I still can’t believe I stopped reading. I mean…what in the world was wrong with me?
- All the important men in my life were born on the 26th day of the month (my husband and two sons). Weird right? So 26 is my official lucky number.
MM: CRAVE is the first book of my Billionaire Bachelors Club and it features Archer and Ivy, who’ve known each other forever. Archer is best friends with Ivy’s big brother Gage and he’s always had a thing for her. So they take it a little farther and turn it into a real thing.
J&K: What is the appeal of billionaires?
MM: Well, they’re rich so they can pretty much do whatever they want. But to get rich, they had to be determined to make it happen which is sexy. And they’re hard working control freaks usually (at least, that’s how I write them) so it’s fun to toss an irresistible woman at them and watch them fall head over heels in love.
J&K: Your book cover is gorgeous. Do you get any say as to what goes on the cover?
MM: Avon let me have a lot of say in the creation of the book covers for this series—I consider myself really lucky! My editor found the image for CRAVE, of which I wholeheartedly approved. I believe I found the image for the second cover, TORN which is so gorgeous (pink! There’s your hint). I stumbled upon the image for the third cover SAVOR and sent it to my editor with a frantic email saying, This must be used for the cover. Must must must. Avon agreed so YAY. (K: Y'all, I got a peek at the cover for TORN and I kind of fell in love.)
J&K: If Hollywood optioned your book into a movie, who would play the lead characters?
MM: I saw Armie Hammer as Archer (I have a mad crush on Armie, he is so damn cute). For Ivy? I love Kristin Kreuk from CW’s Beauty and the Beast. I look at her and just see Ivy.
J&K: What’s next for readers? Can you give us a sneak peek into your current WIP?
MM: I’m working on edits for TORN at this very moment which features Ivy’s brother Gage. You want a sneak peek? I’ll give you an unedited sneak peek in Gage’s POV:
No one tells me no. Well, I take that back. I’ve heard no plenty in my career. No is a part of negotiations. In fact, when I hear a no, it makes me work that much harder to turn it into a yes.
But when it comes to women? They don’t tell me no. I’m the one who usually turns them away. The one who has to break it off first. I’m not used to rejection.
Maybe that’s why I’m drawn to her. She’s the complete opposite of any woman I’ve ever met.
“What are you doing here?” she asks after she barely cracks open the door. Like she might be afraid I’ll push past her and force my way inside.
She wouldn’t be too far off base. The idea does cross my mind.
“I don’t know,” I answer honestly, stuffing my hands in my pockets.
She studies me for a long, quiet moment and I stare at her back. She looks…weary. A little sad, a lot irritated. “I usually never stay this late,” she admits. “Are you stalking me or what?”
“No, I’m not stalking you.” I chuckle, shaking my head. A cool breeze washes over me, making me shiver and I nod toward her. “Can you let me in?”
“I was just locking up for the night.” She pulls the door closer shut and for a brief, terrifying moment, I’m afraid she’s going to slam it completely and shut me out.
“Just a few minutes. I want…to ask you something.” I made that up. I have nothing to ask her beyond the, why do you hate me so much question that’s been running through my brain for the last five hours or so.
“Can’t this wait until tomorrow?”
Jesus. I have never, ever met a woman who’s so disinterested in me before, ever. I hate it.
I’m more determined than ever to turn her no into a yes.

J&K: Author’s choice: You get to ask a question for the readers to answer.
MM: So tell me readers, what sort of romance do you prefer: The successful, determined billionaire? Or the hardworking regular guy? (Personally, I find much to love in both!).
J&K: Thanks Monica for stopping by!
MM: Again, thanks for having me! It’s always a pleasure.

Billionaire Archer Bancroft always gets what he wants—and he’s wanted Ivy Emerson, his best friend’s sister, for far too long. Being forbidden and untouchable only makes her more tempting. When a million-dollar bet with his friends throws down a challenge—last bachelor standing takes all—Archer knows he can win. That is, until one enchanted evening with Ivy takes his heart for a ride.
Ivy knows Archer is nothing but bad news: Infuriating, arrogant…and completely intoxicating. But despite her best efforts, she can’t seem to keep away. When a stolen kiss leads to a night of heated passion, Ivy realizes she’s in trouble and in head over heels.
But in the light of day, everything seems clearer and Archer’s not so sure a one-night stand is all he wants. Concocting a plan to keep Ivy by his side, Archer might just be willing to lose this bet…and win the jackpot instead.
