In a brand-new eBook original novella, RITA finalist and USA Today bestselling author Ruthie Knox takes her spectacular Camelot series to new heights with a tale of desire reinvented.
A hotel bar. A sexy stranger. A night of passion. There’s a part of Amber Mazzara that wants those things, wants to have a moment — just one — where life isn’t a complicated tangle of house and husband and kids and careers. Then, after a long, exhausting “vacation” with her family, her husband surprises her with a gift: a few days on the beach . . . alone.
Only she won’t be alone long, because a handsome man just bought her a drink. He’s cool, he’s confident, and he wants to take Amber to bed and keep her there for days. Lucky for them both, he’s her husband. He’s only got a few days in Jamaica to make her wildest desires come true, but if he can pull it off, there’s reason to believe that this fantasy can last a lifetime.

What happens after the Happily Ever After? After the honeymoon, after the kids? What happens when all those pesky real life issue burst the bubble? Making It Last is the newest in Ruthie Knox Camelot series. This novella brings us back to Amber and Tony from How To Misbehave. They’ve been married for ten years and have three kids and not everything is smooth sailing.
Amber is lost. Not physically but mentally. She’s lost her self to her husband and to her children. There is no doubt that she loves them but things have been getting away from her. Tony is never home because he’s always working. They hardly ever talk about things other than the children. But Amber wouldn’t even know what to say if she could talk to him.
After a family wedding in Jamaica Tony sees his wife struggling. This was no vacation and he wants her to have one. So he takes the kids home and leaves his wife in Jamaica. When he realizes that being away from his wife wont help fix their problems he flies back, only to see that woman he left has been replaced.
Amber wanted a change. She cut her hair, went shopping and tried to find who she really is. When she discovers her husband at the bar they try to make a game out of it: two strangers who just happen to meet bar. But that doesn’t last long. This fantasy only last so long. They have so much to talk through and see what can be done to save their marriage.
I can’t begin to describe how much I liked this story. I love that we are getting a look at what happens after the HEA, that not everything is always perfect. Also, the love Tony has for Amber is so palpable. He may not know how to fix it but he will try anything and everything. Amber bothered me a little only because I hated how she just kept everything inside.
If you are a fan of the series then don’t miss this story. You won’t regret it. It made me tear up.
“I’d do it all over again, you know,” he said.
“Meet you, marry you. Clark and Ant and Jake. Even the hard parts. All of it. I’d do all of it over again, if you would do it with me.”
