I already had a couple covers for some of her self published works at the time, one of which is still a favorite.
Isn't it beautiful?!?!? I love it.
The Marine covers, though, are so incredible. The series is amazing and Heather's ability to weave a touching story is just astounding.
So without further ado.... The amazing Heather Long.
A national best selling author, Heather Long lives in Texas with her family and their menagerie of animals. In addition to military romance, Heather writes a wide variety of romance from paranormal historical western romance to contemporary romance and romantic suspense. She loves characters and the stories they have to tell. As a child, Heather skipped picture books and enjoyed the Harlequin romance novels by Penny Jordan and Nora Roberts that her grandmother read to her. Heather believes that laughter is as important to life as breathing and that the Easter Bunny, the Tooth Fairy and Santa Claus are very real. In the meanwhile, she is hard at work on her next novel.

HL: I'm lucky! I have several. In fact all five of my summer Always a Marine books feature Studio Smexy shots. Released this week for example is What Part of Marine Don't You Understand and I loved these two--he's so intent on her and she has this sort of blissful expression and yet it's so open.
Other books with Studio Smexy include: The Lady is a Thief (one of my personal favorites), Brave are the Lonely, Micah & Mrs. Miller
J&K: How well does the cover illustrate your vision of the hero/heroine? Of the story?
HL: They show powerful couples in these great poses that really fit my characters.
J&K: What elements do you like to see on a book cover? (hero, heroine, landscape...)
HL: I love all of it, I think that key moments in the book should be the cover or something that is very distinctive to the hero or heroine. On Matt's cover, I told the cover artist I really wanted the couple, but we absolutely had to have the dog and I think the combination she put together was fantastic!
J&K: What drew you to choosing a photo shot by Jenn?
HL: The photos, I spent about a day going through the gallery and some I chose because I knew what the characters looked like and some were just super powerful and helped me define the characters better in my head.
J&K: Describe your cover in one word (smexy or sexy doesn’t count)
J&K: What can readers expect from you next?
HL: Lots more Marines, fantastic characters who take you on their journey with them and hopefully those sexy moments that make you cry, sigh, and eventually smile.
“We should probably let you compose—without distraction.” He didn’t sound like he wanted to go.
“No, you’re exactly the kind of distraction I need.” Did she dare tell him? Oh, what the hell. He deserved to know. “You inspire me.”
Surprise rippled across his face. “I do?”
“Oh yeah. I even wrote a song about you last night….”
Wariness creased his brow. “Oh?”
Grinning, she started playing. If only performing in front of the world was as easy as singing for Matt. By the second refrain, he relaxed and by the last he laughed. The song detailed their kiss and exposed her vulnerability, her growing affection for him laid bare in every note. When the song ended, she held her breath and waited.
Matt leaned forward, rested a hand atop hers and brushed her mouth with the lightest, sweetest, and most heart-wrenching kiss. “Thank you.”
Her pulse jackrabbited. “You’re welcome.”
The bubble of tension wrapped around them burst with his slow grin. “No, I mean it. Thank you.”
“I didn’t do anything—I completely blame you for the song. You knocked on the door.”
He chuckled. “You opened it.”
“But you kissed me….”
Slanting his mouth across hers, he silenced any further words. He brushed his thumb across her knuckles, sending tingles racing across her nerves until she hummed like a guitar strung too tight. Every time she thought the kiss would end, he tilted his head to the other side and darted his tongue in and out, teasing her.
Nose to nose, he finally let her come up for air. “You kissed me back.”
“Yeah.” She laughed. “You kissed me again.”
