It’s officially beach season! Well, at least here in Jersey. And you know what that means? Time for some beach reads. But we have two issues and the first one is a hard one… what to read?
For my beach reads, I like to keep it light and fun. Getting all hot and bothered while reading on a hot beach will just make you sweat more. And reading about vampires while you’re soaking up the sun seems kinds silly to me. Then, there are the books that will break your heart. I wouldn’t read them at the beach because I would start to cry and I would get sand in my eye. Also, sunblock in the eyes burns. So for my beach reads I usually lean towards a sweet and sassy contemporary.
Some authors that come to mind are Susan Andersen, Rachel Gibson, Molly O’Keefe and if you like it dirty, Victoria Dahl.
Now, for the next dilemma… paperback or e-reader?
Me, personally, I choose paperback. It’s easy to just throw it in the bag and go. Also, with all the sand and water I would be scared to ruin my e-reader. Plus, with a paperback, or hardcover, you don’t have to deal with the glare from the sun (Unless you have an old school kindle or the new paperwhite kindle). Now, if I’m not going to the beach then I’ll gladly bring my e-reader.
My Juicy Tidbit for this week… Soak up the sun with a beach read. And if you don’t live near the beach then just sit outside and enjoy the start of summer. It doesn’t matter what you pick to read, just that you have some time to relax and take in the sun.
What are some of your favorite beach or summer reads? Help me out, I’ll need a list for this year.
