Elle James spent twenty years in South Central Texas, ranching horses, cattle, goats, ostriches and emus. A former IT professional, retired Army and Air Force Reservist, she’s proud to be writing full-time, penning intrigues and paranormal adventures that keep her readers on the edge of their seats or laughing out loud. Now, living in northwest Arkansas, she’s given up wrangling cattle and exotic birds to wrangle her muses, a malti-poo and a yorkie. When she’s not at her computer, she’s traveling, out snow skiing, boating, or riding her four-wheeler, dreaming up new stories.

Voodoo Among Friends
by Elle James
Voodoo originates in the ancient religions, rituals and beliefs of Africa and Haiti. Added to those are the healing arts of the Native Americans, folk magic of Europe and a touch of Catholicism. People used it as a way to explain and deal with life. It has been used for good and evil, to heal and destroy. It's a rich part of the culture of Louisiana and New Orleans history and many parts of the south and provides a great background for my CAJUN MAGIC Series coming out this year from Entangled Publishing. VOODOO ON THE BAYOU (Feb 2013), VOODOO FOR TWO (April 2013) and DEJA VOODOO ( Jun 2013)
I like to think the world is full of magic. Have you ever been in love with someone who didn't know you existed? Didn't you wish you could concoct a love potion that would make that person fall in love with you? Whether with the touch of a wand or potion or spell, at some time in our lives, we have all wished we could change the course of events.
I knew I wanted to continue the fun I had writing VOODOO ON THE BAYOU set in the Louisiana bayous in my fictional town of Bayou Miste. By the end of that book, we knew how powerful Madam LeBieu was and that Voodoo was strong magic. I wanted to put the magic in the hands of a desperate amateur Voodoo apprentice, who barely believed in Voodoo, and see how badly she could mess up things. And she does in VOODOO FOR TWO. Her attempt to cast a love spell turns the town of Bayou Miste upside down. The story also shows how strong friendships can be and how they'll stand by you, even if it means standing up to your hip-waders in an alligator-infested swamp. I toured the bayous in preparation for writing this series and the alligators are real and kinda scary! Yeah, that's true friendship. Would you stand by your friend in a swamp filled with alligators? No? Ah come on... For a friend? A really good friend?
