Blog Tour: Interview with Rosalie Lario + #Giveaway (International)

Rosalie Lario is currently on tour for her book, MARK OF THE SYLPH. She's answering some fun questions and giving lots of awesome prizes away :)

WELCOME TO THE BLOG ROSALIE!!!

Meet Rosalie:
Formally trained as a corporate and real estate lawyer, I practiced law for 5 years before finally admitting to myself that negotiating contracts wasn’t nearly as fun as dreaming up stories. As an avid reader of romances and supernatural stories, I knew I wanted to write urban fantasy and paranormal romance.  Tales of vampires, demons, and other supernatural beings ensued.
I’m currently working on the Demons of Infernum series, a series of paranormal romance novels featuring four sexy half-demon brothers and their reluctant heroines.

When not writing, I enjoy spending time with my husband and son in our home state of Florida, as well as searching out things that go bump in the night. I still haven’t found any, but I’m keeping my fingers crossed.

If I ever do find evidence of the supernatural, it remains to be seen whether I’ll jump around in excitement, or run screaming in terror (but I’m betting on the latter)!

Jamie and Kati: Hi Rosalie! Welcome to Romancing Rakes For The Love of Romance.

J&K: Share 5 fun facts about yourself.
Rosalie Lario:

  1. Some of my all-time favorite movies are Willow, The Mummy (both the Lugosi and the Brendan Fraser editions), and The Devil’s Advocate. Recognize the common theme?
  2. I love reading and watching movies about the paranormal, but straight-out horror movies terrify me!
  3. I think patience is a four-letter word, lol.
  4. Ferrets are my absolute favorite pets; so much personality packed into such a tiny little body.
  5. Even though I ended up practicing law, I studied Classis and Anthropology in college. Can you say ‘hopeless dreamer’?
J&K: Share a little bit about MARK OF THE SYLPH[no copying blurb :)]
RL:
Taeg is a half demon interdimensional bounty hunter. He and his three half brothers moved to this dimension (specifically to NYC) after they prevented the apocalypse on Earth, but now he’s on a mission to protect his sister-in-law from the clutches of his childhood friend turned enemy. In order to do so, he wants to find an enchanted sword, but there’s just one problem. It’s hidden by a powerful glamour.

Enter Maya. She’s a seemingly ordinary human, but after Taeg discovers she can see through glamours, he realizes she just might be the only person who can help him find the sword.

Unfortunately for Taeg, Maya hates demons, and she’d like nothing more than to kill him. Taeg will have a devil of a time convincing Maya to trust him…and Maya’s world will turn on end once she realizes she’s starting to fall for a demon.

J&K: What is it that makes your hero and heroine perfect for each other?
RL:
Taeg has met his perfect match in Maya. She’s tough, somewhat abrasive, and isn’t afraid to kick a little ass. Basically she’s the perfect complement to his laidback, smartass temperament. Their chemistry is so explosive that I spent much of my time blushing while writing this book.

J&K: If your book was optioned for a Hollywood movie, who would you cast in the lead?
RL:
Jensen Ackles is pretty much perfect as a sarcastic smartass in his role of Dean Winchester on the CW’s Supernatural, so I truly can’t imagine anyone else playing Taeg. As for Maya, I envision an actress who resembles Kim Kardashian (except with much less makeup).

J&K: Do you have any writing rituals? (blasting music, eating cookies, drinking wine...)
RL:
I generally have a theme song that I listen to before I start writing to get into the scene (for Mark of the Sylph it was “I Put a Spell on You” by Nina Simone), but then I have to switch over to my soundtrack of the Amazon rainforest. I’m so much less efficient without that sound playing in the background!

J&K: What book is at the top of your TBR pile?
RL:
I have quite a few books at the very top, but right now I think the next read will be Conjure by Lea Nolan. It’s a YA book, which I only occasionally read, but given that the story involves pirate treasures, Gullah curses, and demon dogs, I’m pretty excited about this one!

J&K: What are you writing at the moment? Can you give us a sneak peek into your current WIP?
RL:
I’m working on the ending to Angel’s Kiss, Book 4 in my Fallen Warriors series. This dystopian paranormal romance series features twelve fallen angels warring with their angel brethren to prevent the extinction of mankind (in other words, the Fallen are the good guys here).

In Angel’s Kiss, fallen angel Jason has finally found the nephilim who unmistakably belongs to him. Ruby Miller has always known the angels who claim to protect humans have a hidden agenda, and ever since the day her father was killed by his own kind for protecting humans, she’s lived off the grid, determined to stop the angels from succeeding in their plot to destroy mankind. But then she meets Jason. Falling in love is so not part of her plan, but even she can’t deny the sizzling attraction that pulls them closer together.

As the Fallen and Ruby’s gang of rebels work together to gain proof of the angels’ nefarious plans, she must decide whether to stay focused on her mission…or surrender to the sweet ecstasy of this angel’s unforgettable kiss.

Half-demon Taeg is desperate to free his pregnant sister-in-law, who is spellbound to an indestructible book that will create an army of the undead. He is convinced that an ancient sword can destroy the book and the spell forever, but this relic has been hidden for a millennia by a powerful glamour. The clock begins to run out on his search when an old rival goes after the book and Taeg’s family in his quest for revenge.

Librarian Maya Flores has a secret: she’s immune to magic and is well aware of the supernatural beings prowling the streets of New York City. Haunted by a brutal demon attack that took her family, she is on a one-woman mission to destroy the evil demons who did it—and any others who get in her way.

Maya is Taeg’s best hope for uncovering the sword.

Unfortunately, she wants nothing more than to kill him. As he fights for her trust and to save his family, she is forced to face the truth that not all demons are evil. And the worst part? She might be falling in love with one, too.
