- I love the orderliness of supermarkets.
- I’m a hummus and gummy bear addict (not to be eaten at the same time).
- Office supplies make me happy.
- My favorite movie is The Sandlot.
- I’ve experienced love at first sight.
TB: “To steal or not to steal?” is the opening line of the book. Ginger, our mostly fearless heroine is deciding whether or not to steal fifty-thousand dollars from her passed-out stripper mother. Ultimately, she decides to take the cash (and her little sister, Willa) on the run to Chicago. She thinks she’s gotten away with it until she meets homicide cop and sexy new neighbor, Lieutenant Derek Tyler.
J&K: What is it that makes your hero and heroine perfect for each other?
TB: Derek and Ginger fall in love with each other’s flaws. They’re attracted to the other’s imperfections as well as their strengths. I think that’s what makes them uniquely perfect for one another.
J&K: Describe in one word how you felt when you got “The Call”
J&K: Do you have any writing rituals? (blasting music, eating cookies, drinking wine...)
TB: Drinking wine helps when I’m writing a love scene. I tend to take more risks, so to speak, when I’m feeling a little amorous. But normally I write in the middle of the day, shoveling gummy bears into my mouth
J&K: Which two authors would you write an anthology with and what would it be about?
TB: That’s a tough question. I don’t want to be presumptuous! I’d love to write an anthology about alpha males, such as Derek in PWH. My two favorite go-to authors for alpha male action are Kresley Cole and Karen Marie Moning.
J&K: What are you writing at the moment? Can you give us a sneak peek into your current WIP?
TB: Sure! I’m just finishing up a project set in New York City about a hot-shot hostage negotiator who falls in love with his mentor’s daughter.

When Ginger Peet comes home after working a double in a downtown Nashville bar, the last thing she expects is to find her strung-out mother passed out on the couch, clutching a purse full of cash. Ginger sees the money as an opportunity to take her gifted seventeen-year-old sister and leave their pitiful existence behind, so she grabs it and runs.
Chicago homicide cop Derek Tyler does not appreciate his orderly life being thrown into chaos by his new foul-mouthed neighbors—until he meets Ginger. Derek sees straight through her sassy, seductive nature to the vulnerable woman beneath. She’s hiding something. Something big. And he’s going to find out what.
The chemistry between Derek and Ginger is intense—and hot—and he won’t rest until he makes Ginger’s his. But can Derek protect her from the danger she’s stumbled into before it’s too late?
