December Joyathon: Interview with Nicole Flockton + Giveaway (International)

WELCOME BACK TO THE BLOG NICOLE!!!

Meet Nicole:
On her very first school report her teacher said ‘Nicole likes to tell her own stories’.

It wasn’t until after the birth of her daughter and after having fun on the community board of eharlequin.com that she finally decided to take the plunge and write a book.

Nicole joined the fabulous Romance Writers of Australia and evenutally linked up with a great group of girls and formed “WINKGirls”

The stories she writes are contemporary romances with either a medical setting or in the boardrooms of high powered business. Nicole enjoys taking two characters and creating unique situations for them.

Apart from writing Nicole is busy looking after her very own hero – her wonderfully supportive husband, and her two fabulous kids. She also enjoys watching sports and, of course, reading.

Jamie and Kati: Hi Nicole! Welcome back to Romancing Rakes For The Love of Romance. Thanks for being part of our December Joyathon :)

J&K: Who is Nicole Flockton during the holidays? (author, gift giver, last minute shopper, baker)
Nicole Flockton:
This will be the first time during the holidays I’ll be a published author, but usually I’m the mum going to the class parties. Running around getting last minute things – like something to cook for Christmas lunch!

J&K: What are you currently working on?
NF:
I’m currently working on a book called Rescuing Dawn, it’s the offshoot from my debut release Masquerade. Dawn has experienced a lot of tragedy and closed herself off from the world. Enter hot paramedic Andrew, who has a past with Dawn and wants nothing more than to bring her back to life and make her smile.

J&K: Can you give us a sneak peak?
NF:
Here’s a little preview from part of the first chapter.
Dawn nodded her agreement but wished she could be helping out, there was nothing worse than talking to the victim’s families. It always brought back horrible memories of the time when she was the family of a victim, that the victims of the accident were her own husband and infant son, just made it even worse. Those comforting words, the same words she’d spoken on numerous occasions to calm a family member, did nothing for her that night. A coldness had filled her soul that night. And nothing had been able to warm it.

“Dawn? Is that you?”

A voice dragged her out of her maudlin thoughts. There was no changing the past and she had moved on—sort of. Dawn looked up at the person who’d voiced those words. The moment she locked eyes with the paramedic standing in front of her she wished she was anywhere but where she was.

“Andrew?”
J&K: If you’ve written a holiday themed/titled book, what is it about?
NF:
Technically no. But Masquerade started out at a New Year’s Eve party.

J&K: If you have not, would you write a holiday themed/titled book in the future?
NF:
I’ve considered it, especially with the amount of holiday anthologies released – I’m going to stew on it.

J&K: Do you write more or less during the holidays?
NF:
Probably less, but this year I’ve got books due and books coming out next year so I think I will be writing these holidays. We’ve gone away the last two years so I haven’t done any writing. This year we’re staying home.

J&K: What’s your favorite thing about the holiday season?
NF:
I love Christmas. I love decorating the place. Having pretty ornaments on the christmas tree. My tree never looks as ‘put together’ as the ones in the store but it’s our family tree. Since we’ve moved to the US we’ve started collecting ornaments from all the places we’ve visited so putting them up is a great reminder of the adventures we’ve had.

J&K: What holiday movie is more likely to be playing in your house: Elf, A Christmas Story, or Diehard?
NF:
Umm none, we don’t generally play holiday movies. But I do love me some Bruce Willis “Yippee kai ayy”.

J&K: Which of your heroes would you go on a sleigh ride with? (with permission from the heroine of course)
NF:
All 3? No? I just have to choose 1? Okay well let me say Luciano, he is the hero from my book coming out in January with Escape Publishing. He was the first hero I wrote so he holds a special place in my heart. He’s a super sexy Alpha that is to die for in a tux!

Quick questions:
Snowmen or snow angels? Snow Angels because I’m an angel ;-) LOL
Real tree or fake tree? Fake because I can buy a pre-lit one (I’m hopeless putting lights on the tree) and they don’t make any mess.
Favorite holiday smell You know growing up in Australia it was hot for Christmas, because it’s summer there. So I had no hot chocolate smells or anything like that. So I have to say I don’t have a favourite holiday smell!
Home for the holidays or visiting relatives? If I could I would fly home every year to Australia to have Christmas with the family. It’s how it’s always been so definitely visiting relatives.
Christmas Day or Christmas Eve? Christmas Day
Just enough decorations or “every tree lighted, blow up snowglobe, snow man in the yard” decorations? Every year I try and get more decorations to add to the collection – there is never too many Christmas Decorations!
Author’s choice: If you could go anywhere in the world for Christmas, where would you go?
