December Joyathon: Interview with Beth Yarnall + Giveaway (International)

We first met Beth Yarnall via the Twitterverse sharing in our love for all things man candy. When she published her debut book, we were more than happy to read it and it surprised us (in a good way). She shared with us her road to publishing and we're so glad she did.

Meet Beth:
Beth Yarnall writes suspense, mysteries and the occasional hilarious blog post. A storyteller since her playground days, Beth remembers her friends asking her to make up stories of how the person `died' in the slumber party game Light as a Feather, Stiff as a Board, so it's little wonder she prefers writing stories in which people meet unfortunate ends. In middle school she discovered romance novels, which inspired her to write a spoof of soap operas for the school's newspaper. She hasn't stopped writing since.

For a number of years, Beth made her living as a hairstylist and makeup artist and co-owned a salon with her very best friend. Somehow hairstylists and salons always seem to find their way into her stories. Beth lives in Southern California with her husband, two sons, and their rescue dog where she is hard at work on her next novel. For more information about Beth and her novels please visit her

Jamie and Kati: Hi Beth! Welcome to Romancing Rakes For The Love of Romance! Thanks for celebrating our 2nd Annual December Joyathon with us :)

J&K: Who is Beth Yarnall during the holidays? (author, gift giver, last minute shopper, baker)
Beth Yarnall:
I love to bake from scratch. So you’ll no doubt find me in the kitchen sifting and measuring. I loathe the mall so I try to do most of my shopping online. The years I spent behind the cosmetics counter in a department store cured me of malls forever. I do love the small mom and pop stores where I can find unique and one of a kind gifts. I must confess that I suffer terribly from ‘one gift for you, one gift for me’. It’s a sickness really.

J&K: What holiday movie is more likely to be playing in your house: Elf, A Christmas Story, or Diehard?
I love Elf, but I have to watch It’s a Wonderful Life when it comes on TV. I especially like to bake while it’s on. Now that’s Christmas!

J&K: Which one of your characters would you want to spend the holidays with?
I’d love to see how Lucas (from Rush) reacts to getting gifts from Mi. He’d be better at giving than receiving.

J&K: What’s the one holiday book everyone should read?
My favorite holiday book is Santa Mouse. I still have the hard cover copy from when I was a kid and I’ve read it to my sons over and over. I hope to share it with grandkids one day.

J&K: What’s your favorite thing about the holiday season?
Spending time with family. And the food. Oh my jeebus, the food!

J&K: Which authors (dead or alive) would you invite to your holiday feast?
Oscar Wilde, Nora Roberts, Dr. Seuss, Shakespeare, and Mark Twain. You know that would be an awesome dinner party.

J&K: What are you excited about for 2013?
I’m excited to get the edits for my mystery that comes out in 2014. It’s the book of my heart and I’m dying to share it with readers. I’m looking forward to another year with Mr. Y and our boys. Watching them grow has been the greatest joy of my life. I’m also looking forward to putting the final edits on the book I’m working on right now and the new project that’s simmering at the back of my brain. 2013 is going to be an awesome year!

Quick questions:
Real tree or fake tree? I love the smell of real, but have given it up for fake. It’s so much easier!
Specific gifts or gift cards? Gift cards.
Fruit cake or gingerbread? Gingerbread. Love it.
Just enough decorations or “every tree lighted, blow up snowglobe, snow man in the yard” decorations? Let there be LIGHTS!!!
Home for the holidays or visiting relatives? Home.
Gifts under the tree throughout the month or Santa delivering all on Christmas Eve? We open gifts Christmas morning.
Author’s choice: What is your favorite holiday song? What holiday song can’t you get out of your head?

Someone is stalking Miyuki Price-Jones.

As the host of a very successful home shopping TV show that sells adult toys, Mi has become the object of an ex-con’s obsession, requiring the services of ex-Navy SEAL turned bodyguard, Lucas Vega. As the attraction between Lucas and Mi grows, Lucas has a difficult time keeping his feelings for Mi separate from his mission to keep her safe. A mission that is more challenging than anyone could have predicted.

Damaged by their pasts, Lucas and Mi find more in common then they could have imagined and secrets they thought would tear them apart could be the ties that bind them together forever. But with the stalker growing bolder, Lucas and Mi must learn to trust each other or risk losing more than their hearts.

One of them could lose their life.
