A note from Jenn: Laurie London. What do I say about this woman? She is so awesome and such a sweet lady. We've been tweeting for awhile and FINALLY got to meet at Authors After Dark in NOLA. She tagged along on a Gonzo photoshoot (FUN!) and showed me the cover that Tricia did for her.
OMGAWSH. It's purty. I loves it lots.
And the fact that it's HER cover makes me all kinds of squiggly inside. So without further adoo..... OH WAIT. Did I mention that she helped undress Derek Hutchins during that shoot? NO?!?!? Well here's a pic to prove it, and BTW!!! That's über designer Tricia back there giggling.

Laurie London is the author of the Sweetblood and Iron Portal series—dark, sexy paranormal romance, set primarily in the Pacific Northwest. Publisher’s Weekly calls the Sweetblood series “sexy” and “sizzling.” Her latest release, ASSASSIN’S TOUCH, kicks off the new Iron Portal series.
She lives on a small farm outside of Seattle with her husband, two children and a variety of animals. After graduating cum laude with a business degree from Western Washington University, she worked for a Fortune 500 company as a programmer/tester and an underwriter. Her other jobs included cocktail waitress, hotel maid, candy store manager and bridal gown sales.
When not writing, she can be found running, reading, sewing, making jewelry, mucking stalls, volunteering or riding her horse. Someday she hopes to qualify for the Quarter Horse World Show – that is, if her horse doesn’t get hurt again.

J&K: What book(s) feature a Studio Smexy shot cover?
LL: ASSASSIN’S TOUCH, book 1 in the Iron Portal series
J&K: How well does the cover illustrate your vision of the hero/heroine? Of the story?
LL: It’s perfect! Trish (Pickyme) Schmidt started with a Studio Smexy photograph of a hot guy in a kilt. She added a criss-crossed weapons belt over his chest, changed the kilt to look like leather, added a jewel-encrusted bracelet around his wrist (a key element of the story), then created the stone wall background of the portal entrance. Even the font looks like stone.
J&K: What elements do you like to see on a book cover? (hero, heroine, landscape...)
LL: As a big reader of paranormal romances that are male-centric, I do love a nice man-chest. With a glance, it tells me I’m going to get a sexy story about an alpha-hero. I also like a background that isn’t too busy but reflects something about the story.
J&K: What drew you to choosing a photo shot by Jenn?
LL: Jenn is able to capture the essence of popular romance themes without making the images too fussy. They’re simple enough that a cover artist doesn’t need to remove or cover up elements that don’t work for a particular story. Unlike other sites, she does multiple shots of the same models in slightly different poses. So if one isn’t quite right, there are many others to choose from. Plus, her models are hot!
J&K: Describe your cover in one word (smexy or sexy doesn’t count)
J&K: What can readers expect from you next?
LL: Right now I’m working on Rogue’s Passion, the second book in the Iron Portal series, which will be out early next year. I’m also working on the next novel set in the Sweetblood world, but I don’t have release date for that yet.

Two worlds. Two enemies.
Haunted by loss, Cascadian assassin Rickert D’Angelus is on a mission of vengeance. Determined to stop the Pacifican army from finding a portal to his world, he leads a group of warriors into New Seattle with one goal—to kill all Pacifican soldiers.
Neyla Trihorn had the perfect life until a deadly accident revealed her latent para-abilities. Now, the former fashion designer is the Pacifican army’s hottest commodity in their fight against the invaders.
When Rickert discovers a beautiful, unconscious soldier on a cold mountain ledge near the portal, he realizes she’s a Protection-Talent and cannot be killed. To prevent the army from using her skills again, he takes her as his prisoner instead.
One fated touch…
But when he pulls her into his arms, a sexy and compelling vision appears, awakening something inside him. Something he can’t ignore.
Torn between duty and passion, Rickert must decide if the vision is a Talent trick designed to foil the enemy or the answer to his deepest desires...
