Studio Smexy™ Saturdays EXCLUSIVE: Delilah Marvelle's School of Gallantry Series Cover Reveal + Giveaway (International)

A note from Kati: I first fell in love with Delilah Marvelle's School of Gallantry a few years ago when I got my first e-reader and I've been in love with both her writing and her since. Since Jamie introduced me to BDB, I figured it was time for her to discover Delilah and sent her both MISTRESS OF PLEASURE and LORD OF PLEASURE. Meeting Delilah in person is an experience in itself. Well, she did let me lubricate her dildo at RomCon. How can someone not want to hang out with her after that?!

Today we're unveiling the rest of the covers for her School of Gallantry series which she will be self-pubbing. LADY OF PLEASURE will release in March 2013. Is it March yet? LOL. I had the pleasure and privilege of being at two of the three shoots for her covers and that woman definitely has a vision which Jenn brought to life in the studio. *sigh* I just love how the covers turned out thanks to Carrie's designing genius.
I feel like there should be a joke about the sign in the back.
"Aim high." "That's what she said." *snort*

Jamie's Juicy Tidbits: Holiday Reads + Giveaway (International)

Tomorrow is November 30th and that means that Christmas, and Hanukkah, is right around the corner. Last week I watched Santa arrive at the end of the Thanksgiving Day parade and watched the lights start to go up on the houses. And you know what I thought… Bah Hum Bug.

Yeah. I said it. I am a total Grinch… or Scrooge. I’ve never really been a fan of the holidays. When I was little Santa scared me. I don’t see the fuss of finding the perfect tree to decorate. Yes, I do enjoy presents, I can’t lie about that, but I just don’t see the big deal about it. My favorite holiday movie is How The Grinch Stole Christmas (the cartoon version), though I do enjoy Elf. I’m just not a Christmas person.
That being said, my family is. So to try and find my holiday cheer I pick up some holiday books to read. It helps keep the Grinch away. So I decided to give you some of my favorite holiday reads.

eARC Historical Review: For Desire Alone by Jess Michaels

FOR DESIRE ALONE by Jess Michaels
Series: Mistress Matchmaker #2
Format: PDF
Genre: Historical
Length: 207 pages
Publisher: Samhain (November 6, 2012)

When friends turn to lovers, anything can happen…

A mistress should never be foolish enough to fall in love with her protector, nor trust him with her financial future. Mariah Desmond did both, and now her dearly departed protector has left her with nothing.Forced to seek another protector, she’s determined that this time, she’ll lead with her survival instinct—not her heart. But when she attends one of Vivien Manning’s infamous parties, the familiar face of her late lover’s best friend throws her for a loop.

A painful past taught John Rycroft that he’s not fit to be anyone’s knight in shining armor. His soft spot—make that a hard spot—for Mariah is precisely why he’s kept his distance. Yet the sight of her flirting with a bevy of men vying to become her next lover makes something inside him snap.

As John hauls her bodily away from her suitors, Mariah’s indignation melts away in the heat of the sizzling sexual chemistry. She quickly finds it isn’t easy to navigate John’s stormy emotional waters. Especially when his abusive father’s quest to get his son back under his thumb puts her life in danger.

VBT: Spotlight on Katie Reus + Giveaway

Marines, Miami, mistletoe, murder and a heroine named Noel? Sounds like one heck of a holiday read. Today we would like to welcome Katie Reus to the blog where she will be sharing her Red Stone Security series with us as well as a sexy excerpt.

Meet Katie:
Katie fell in love with romance at a young age thanks to books she pilfered from her mom’s stash. Years later she loves reading romance almost as much as she loves writing it. However, she didn’t always know she wanted to be a writer. After graduating summa cum laude with a degree in psychology and working too many jobs she hated, she finally figured things out.

She now spends her days writing dark paranormal romance and sexy romantic suspense. Her publishers include Carina Press, Harlequin Nocturne and NAL/Signet Eclipse (Penguin). Regardless of genre, she always includes a happy ending. When she’s not creating stories she loves spending time with her husband and family.

Interview with Marina Adair + Giveaway (US only)

Marina Adair's gem of a holiday read, KISSING UNDER THE MISTLETOE, should definitely be put on your holiday reading list. Today, Marina is hanging out at the blog sharing a little bit about her book and also giving us a unedited sneak peek from the second book in her St. Helena Vineyard series.

Meet Marina:
Every author can identify the exact moment of inception, when the skies parted, the heavens sang, and a divine being came forth, anointing them one of the chosen, blessed to spend the rest of eternity weaving stories of ‘ever after’ for mass consumption.

For me, it wasn’t so much a moment, but an intervention.

Sophomore year, my fellow Blockheads sat me down and explained that I had an addiction. I was a NKOTB–A-holic. Afraid of becoming enablers, they refused to listen to another one of my never-ending stories about our passionate intrigues with Jordan, Joe, Jon, Danny, and Donnie. What they didn’t understand was that New Kids on the Block wasn’t my obsession—they were my current romance-medium of choice.

Twenty years later, my romance addiction is a hard, bodice-ripping, half-dozen books per week. When I’m not reading it or watching it, I am writing it—or workshopping it—or editing it—or strategizing how my hands to get more of it.

In 2010, I realized I was closer to menopause than prom and got serious about my career, writing my way toward a post-graduate degree in creative writing (in the off chance that the first one didn’t stick) and becoming a published romance author.

January of 2012, I sold my first novel, TUCKER’S CROSSING, to Kensington Books set to release August, 16 2012. Also coming this year from Montlake Romance is the St. Helena Vineyard series: KISSING UNDER THE MISTLETOE hits shelves October, 16 2012, followed by SUMMER IN THE VINEYARDS in April 2013, and the third in the series releasing October 2013. In 2014 the first in the Sugar Series, BUT SUGAR’S TWICE AS SWEET, will release from Grand Central’s Forever line.

I live in a century-year-old log cabin, nestled in the majestic redwoods of the Santa Cruz Mountains, with my husband, daughter, three kitties, eleven chickens, and the occasional wild turkey.

Studio Smexy™ Saturdays: Interview with Tessa Dare + Giveaway (International)

A note from Jenn: I love Tessa Dare. She is such a talented author, her books are lyrical and emotional and funny and wonderful. I met her last summer at RWA in Anaheim, and she is just as lovely in person as she is on the interwebs. I was lucky enough to run into her after the Rita's where she won best Regency Historical for A Night To Surrender. She was just stunning holding her RITA and her shoes as she and Mr. Dare made their way back to their room, most likely to pass out cold from exhaustion.
These covers with Avon came as a complete surprise to me, how they came about was two parts miracle, three parts luck, and one part fairy dust and I will forever be grateful for that fairy. It was a wild couple weeks and the result is this PIIINK cover...

Studio Smexy™ Saturdays: Interview with Laurie London + Giveaway

A note from Jenn: Laurie London. What do I say about this woman? She is so awesome and such a sweet lady. We've been tweeting for awhile and FINALLY got to meet at Authors After Dark in NOLA. She tagged along on a Gonzo photoshoot (FUN!) and showed me the cover that Tricia did for her.

OMGAWSH. It's purty. I loves it lots.

And the fact that it's HER cover makes me all kinds of squiggly inside. So without further adoo..... OH WAIT. Did I mention that she helped undress Derek Hutchins during that shoot? NO?!?!? Well here's a pic to prove it, and BTW!!! That's über designer Tricia back there giggling.

Jamie's Juicy Tidbits: Rock Star Romances

One of my favorite series has the next book coming out. It also features a hero who isn’t the typical “Romance Hero”. You know what I’m talking about… the big bad alpha, or the firefighter, or the billionaire. Nope, this week I’m all about the Rock Star.

Rock stars almost come off as the anti-hero. They are typically thought of as players, with groupies in every city ready to drop their panties. If you think about it the tabloids are filled with the “rock stars” with their women, drugs and other vices. They don’t come off as romantic and that’s ok because every girl has the bad boy fantasy. I myself have a thing for Jon Bon Jovi, but you can’t say anything bad about him. But he does look sexy in his tight leather pants.

Excerpt: The Warrior by Margaret Mallory

Meet Margaret:
Margaret Mallory started out as a Midwest girl. Except for two years in Africa, she grew up in small towns in northern Michigan, where her dad was a county extension agent. She received degrees from Michigan State University and the University of Michigan Law School, and then headed to Washington, DC to save the world. When that failed, she packed up and moved to the Pacific Northwest for no reason except that it was beautiful and far from her last jobs and boyfriends. She admits to having a vague notion of finding herself a park ranger with a dog. The man she met was not a park ranger, but he was willing to get the dog. Marriage and children soon followed.

Margaret spent many rewarding—but rather wearing—years in jobs devoted to improving services for abused children and care for the elderly. Not long ago, she surprised (shocked?) her friends and family by abandoning her legal career—and steady job—to write novels. She is thrilled to spend her days writing stories of love and adventure, instead of going to endless meetings. After all, she has always loved romantic tales, heroic deeds, and happy endings. And, at long last, she can satisfy her passion for justice by punishing the bad and rewarding the worthy—in the pages of her novels.

With her two children off to college, Margaret spends most of her time working on her next books. She loves to hear from readers.

2012 Readers n 'ritas Recap + Giveaway (International)

Oh. My. God. This was my first year to attend Readers n Ritas and I am going back again next year. It has been decided.

There were so many awesome authors there and what I loved most about this event is the fact I was able to fangirl over some of my favorite authors one-on-one. Or two-on-one in some cases. Other cons you end up being all Edward Cullen in the corner creepy because everyone else is swarming the author or monopolizing all of their time. Or there's not enough time during the weekend to hit up every author you want to stalk, er, talk with.

I shall give you a quick rundown of what I did in photo form with little captions. The trip to Medieval Times (found by accident because Jenn --yes, THAT Jenn-- and I were driving all over Dallas trying to find a restroom *don't ask*) and  dinner at Olive Garden (our waiter prayed for Lela) after a bottle or two of Mike's shall only be mentioned in this paragraph. That is all.

Let us begin...

VBT: Guest Post with Sophie Barnes + Giveaway (US/CA)

We've had the lovely Sophie Barnes on the blog before promoting her debut book, How Miss Rutherford Got Her Groove Back. Today she is stopping by the blog in celebration of her back to back releases and wondering why people think they don't read romance when they obviously do. Isn't that the core of most books? First let's welcome Sophie back to the blog and see what she has to say about this subject.

Meet Sophie:
Born in Denmark, Sophie has spent her youth traveling with her parents to wonderful places all around the world. She’s lived in five different countries, on three different continents, and speaks Danish, English, French, Spanish and Romanian.

She has studied design in Paris and New York and has a bachelor’s degree from Parson’s School of design, but most impressive of all – she’s been married to the same man three times, in three different countries and in three different dresses.

While living in Africa, Sophie turned to her lifelong passion – writing.

When she’s not busy, dreaming up her next romance novel, Sophie enjoys spending time with her family, swimming, cooking, gardening, watching romantic comedies and, of course, reading. She currently lives on the East Coast.

Studio Smexy™ Saturdays: Production Stills from FOREVER A LORD Book Trailer + Giveaway (International)

A note from Jenn: I'm not good at following rules.

To celebrate the release of this AMAZING video production we're sharing some of MY favorite production stills. Kati asked for six, so I sent nine, we'll see how many actually make it into the post in the end. :)

This is one of the most fun productions I have worked on. The other being the DEFIANT trailer with Pamela Clare. THAT was pretty balls out amazing as well.

Stock Up Saturday: Delilah Marvelle Edition + Giveaway (International)

We've mixed it up a little and are showcasing Delilah Marvelle instead of a publisher or low priced Kindle deals. Mistress of Pleasure was the first book Kati read when she made her way back to the romance genre. Kati then gifted both of the School of Gallantry books to Jamie and got her hooked. It's okay fair because Jamie got Kati hooked on BDB (a story for another time).

Delilah's stories are sexy (hellooo carriage sexy!), passionate, and a bit twisted. She doesn't sugar coat the grittier and dirtier (not like that!) side of history but weaves it into her stories in such a way that readers can relate to her characters and end up wanting more. You'll laugh, sob, snort, giggle and gasp as you make your way through each of her book series. Get ready to find a school where men learn the art of seduction, get scandalized, hear whispered rumors and put them to rest and discover a second chance at love for a mature couple (We'd say old but 40 isn't old. Okay, maybe it was back then).

Jamie's Juicy Tidbits: Political Romances

If you just missed this past election you must have been living under a rock. Now don’t all squirrely on me, this is not a political post. I don’t care who you voted for as long as you voted. I voted though I didn’t get one of those “I Voted” stickers, which made me sad. But anyway, I digress.

Watching the election made me miss my favorite political show The West Wing. I seriously loved that show. I had such a crush on Josh. Yeah, that’s right. Not Sam, though he was very good looking. But Josh was my guy. And you can’t tell me that Jed Bartlett wasn’t a great president. Anyway, I digress again.

Interview with Susanna Fraser + Giveaway (International)

Susanna Fraser is currently on tour for her latest release, AN INFAMOUS MARRIAGE and we have the pleasure of hosting her on the blog today. Let's give Susanna a warm welcome and get to know her and her book a bit.

Meet Susanna:
Susanna Fraser wrote her first novel in fourth grade. It starred a family of talking horses who ruled a magical land. In high school she started, but never finished, a succession of tales of girls who were just like her, only with long, naturally curly and often unusually colored hair, who, perhaps because of the hair, had much greater success with boys than she ever did.

Along the way she read her hometown library’s entire collection of Regency romance, fell in love with the works of Jane Austen, and discovered in Patrick O’Brian’s and Bernard Cornwell’s novels another side of the opening decades of the 19th century. When she started to write again as an adult, she knew exactly where she wanted to set her books. Her writing has come a long way from her youthful efforts, but she still tends to give her heroines great hair.

Susanna lives in the Pacific Northwest with her husband and daughter. When not writing or reading, she goes to baseball games, watches Chopped, Castle, and The Legend of Korra, and cooks her way through an ever-growing cookbook collection.

Studio Smexy Saturdays: Model Alanna + Giveaway (International)

A note from Kati: Alanna is one of the newest additions to Studio Smexy and she is absolutely gorgeous! With her creamy complexion, dark tresses and international look, she could be a heroine for a historical romance, steampunk or contemporary. She's a lot of fun in the studio and totally down to earth. She even took a picture with Ender to show to her friends because they wouldn't believe it. LOL. A gorgeous girl like here has to have proof? Well, here's your proof :)

A note from Jenn: Alanna is the sweetest model I've worked with in a while. She was just... sweet. There's really no other way to describe her. Of course, when the camera was on...WHOA stand back, she was smexy. And she could pull off SO many looks! We steampunked her out, and historical, and before she left she asked for a pic with Ender on her cell phone, because she didn't think anyone would believe her. How freakin' CUTE is that?!?!

I adored her. I can't wait to get back to Portland so I can work with her again, because she just makes me smile.

Jamie's Juicy Tidbits: Riding Out the Hurricane

It’s been a rough week for me. I live in central NJ, by the water, and was in the path of Hurricane Sandy. Thankfully, we didn’t suffer a lot of damage. Just some downed tree branches. No flooding and thankfully the big trees in my yard are still standing. We have no power but it could’ve been a lot worse.

Since Sandy blew through Monday night, I’ve been sitting in the dark. I can’t watch TV, there was no internet so that leaves me with my favorite past time… reading. I would’ve liked to write something fun and witty as I normally do but I figured I’d share my Hurricane Sandy reading list.
