Interview with Nicole Flockton + Giveaway (US/CA)

Today we would like to welcome debut author Nicole Flockton to the blog. Kati met Nicole at RWA in Anaheim and thought she was such an absolute blast to hang out with. Plus she's got a super cool accent. Nicole is sharing a bit about her book, MASQUERADE and giving away a fun little package of books and swag.

Meet Nicole:
On her very first school report her teacher said ‘Nicole likes to tell her own stories’.

It wasn’t until after the birth of her daughter and after having fun on the community board of that she finally decided to take the plunge and write a book.

Nicole joined the fabulous Romance Writers of Australia and evenutally linked up with a great group of girls and formed “WINKGirls

The stories she writes are contemporary romances with either a medical setting or in the boardrooms of high powered business. Nicole enjoys taking two characters and creating unique situations for them.

Apart from writing Nicole is busy looking after her very own hero – her wonderfully supportive husband, and her two fabulous kids. She also enjoys watching sports and, of course, reading.

Jamie and Kati: Hi Nicole! Welcome to Romancing Rakes For The Love of Romance.

J&K: Who is Nicole Flockton?
NF: Nicole Flockton is a pretty ordinary girl from the beautiful hometown of Perth Western Australia, but currently I’m residing in Houston TX. I’m a wife to the most amazing man, and mum to two pretty fabulous kids. I’m a reader and of course, a writer.

J&K: What is MASQUERADE about? {no copying blurb :)}
NF: Well darn you’re making me think! Okay, here goes “Amongst the mysterious appeal of a masquerade ball, two people connect and after spending one night together, their lives will never be the same again.” How’s that?

J&K: What makes Sophie and Alex perfect for each other?
NF: Because I said so? No, you don’t buy that? LOL Ok, here we go. Alex is perfect for Sophie because he sees the ‘real’ her. She’s from a wealthy family and Alex doesn’t let her wealth define the true person she is. What he sees is a caring soul who touches places he thought long closed off from emotions. Sophie is perfect for Alex because she challenges him to live again, even though she doesn’t realize it. She brings light to a darkness he was even aware had taken hold of him. Fate played her hand and even though they tried to fight it, fate wouldn’t let them win – only she would!

J&K: Which two authors would you write an anthology with and what would it be about?
NF: I’d love to write an anthology with Nicola Marsh and Fiona Lowe. Both are Australian authors, Fiona won a RITA this year, and Nicola is an amazing writer. We all love Australian Rules Football, so we’d have to write about Football players.

J&K: What’s the one romance book everyone should read?
NF: Mine? LOL Wow that’s a tough one for me because, I’ve not read the Jane Austen classics which everyone would suggest. But I would have to say “Ain’t She Sweet” by Susan Elizabeth Phillips is a fantastic read.

J&K: If your book had a theme song, what would it be?
NF: It would have to be Masquerade Masks. There is so much than can be taken and used from masks. Secret lovers can have a liaison without anyone knowing.

J&K: What can readers expect from you next?
NF: I’m working on a proposal for two books of two of the characters in Masquerade. One I think will be a bit more angsty than this story so that will be a challenge to write. The other book I’m thinking will have a bit more humour in it. Well that’s my plan, of course, the characters will often tell me how they want their stories told.
