Marcia gets schooled…
Of the three Brady sisters, Lady Marcia has always seemed the girl most likely to lead a perfectly charmed life. But after a handsome cad breaks her heart, she swears off love and devotes her life to teaching girls at a private school. In spite of her family’s wish for a London debut, Marcia is happy where she is—until terrible news sends her back to the Brady clan…and into the arms of an unexpected suitor.
On the subject of love.
A dark and dashing earl who knows Marcia’s past, Duncan Lattimore is surprised by what a fascinating and independent woman she’s become. Marcia, too, is surprised—by the fiery attraction she feels for Duncan. But why—why—must he be the brother of the scoundrel who broke her heart? Why must Marcia’s rival at school forbid her from seeing him? How can this lady possibly resist this fellow—when they know that it’s much more than a hunch…?

"And someday I'll prove to you there is such a thing as a perfect love."Lady Marcia Sherwood's life changed at fifteen and at sixteen she fell in love. One problem? The young man Marcia fell in love with is shipped off to America by his brother.
~Lady Marcia Sherwood
Five years has passed and who should Marcia run into but the one man in all the world she does not want to have any form of polite conversation with. He broke her heart and the nerve! Marcia has become headmistress of Oak Hall where she is content. At least until the day she is fired by a former schoolmate who ended up marrying the school's benefactor. Now what does Marcia have to live for? Plus, Lord Duncan Lattimore keeps showing up everywhere.
Duncan can't believe the woman he's looking at is Marcia. What happened to the girl he once knew who was utterly, completely, irrevocably in love? Oh yeah, he broke her heart after shipping his baby brother off to America. And why the heck was he feeling things that he shouldn't be feeling towards her? To top it all off, his wayward brother Finn comes back to town. What a mess. Duncan doesn't have time for his brother's shenanigans but he certainly has time for Marcia.
Between taking care of his illegitimate son Joe, trying to make Marcia come around, making sure his brother doesn't try to come between Marcia and him and helping Marcia get her headmistress position back, Duncan is stretched thin. Marcia is desperate to get her job back and she will make nice with Duncan since he has connections with a certain elderly Duke (who totally stole the story for me) whose granddaughter is a prospective pupil. If Marcia can get her to attend, a total coup for Oak Hall, she can get her position back.
Marcia tries to deny the attraction between Duncan and her but it's slowly simmering. Stolen kisses, developing a friendship with Duncan's son and the confusion of Finn coming back in her life, Marcia must deal with all that plus make a decision as to whether her job is worth sacrificing for this new and wonderful connection with the once stuffy and staid Duncan Lattimore.
Now the question becomes, will Marcia give up everything she has come to love to return to her post as headmistress or allow love to change everything?
If she were still thinking about Finn, then Duncan was an Arabian prince. Or a chimney sweep. Or anything but who he was right now--a man who wanted Lady Marcia Sherwood as much as he wanted air to breathe.Overall: In true Kieran Kramer fashion this book has everything: laughter, a loving family dynamic, sexual tension, memorable scene stealing characters (the elderly Duke) and a love that will make you sigh as you turn the last page. The book is not a play-by-play of The Brady Bunch Regency-style but does pay homage to certain aspects of the TV series. Marcia getting hit on the nose? Definitely an homage. The fun and loving family dynamic of two separate households coming together? Another homage. Loving Lady Marcia is a solid start to a promising new series. After reading Ms. Kramer's Impossible Bachelors series, I was waiting to see if she would be bringing her signature elements for her next series. Yup, she brought it and now I'm eagerly waiting for the next House of Brady book.
