Studio Smexy Saturdays: Model Karlll

A note from Kati: Karlll. Yes, I can't type his name without adding the extra L's at the end. I blame Jenn for that one. We met Karlll during our time in Denver and he's a totally nice guy. He's smart, funny and his abs, oh lordy, those abs...We'll let the pictures speak for themselves. We also got to go in studio while Pamela Clare and her son, Benjy, shot some footage for her book trailer. Oh, did I mention Karlll is Connor MacKinnon in the DEFIANT live action trailer? Yup, we'll share that too. If the pictures don't do it for you, his interview answers will have you swooning.

A note from Jamie: What can I say about Karl? We all know that he is ridiculous sexy and can run in the woods with a heavy musket. We got a chance to meet him in Denver and let me say, he's just as impressive in person. We didn't get a chance to really talk to him, mainly because our tongues were on the floor, but now we have him answering our questions. Oh, and pictures. We have pictures.

A note from Jenn: I seriously have to introduce this guy? Really? OK. I got a lead on a new model, who...hadn't really done much modeling. Someone sent me this cell-phone-in-a-bathroom-mirror pic, as happens often, of a guy with great physique and ok face. I figured, eh, might as well try it. So I messaged him on Facebook (yea that's how my lead hooked me up with him.) He came in to the shoot and honestly blew me away. First off, the Jersey Shore style abs pic did him no justice whatsoever, he has a beautiful face, an amazing smile, and the greatest personality. We did the test shoot and I was giddy. No really. I don't usually get giddy in the studio but this guy was awesome. He wore a kilt with style, he handled my weapons with a practiced hand, and he maneuvered the girl model with practiced ease.

He was a natural, and we clicked. I didn't ever think I'd find someone I worked so well with again. So I told him if he could stay for another hour, he'd get paid for both. I've never paid on a test shoot. Ever.

That's how I met Karl. I hope he sticks around for awhile because I sure do like to shoot him. He has fun with every thing I throw his way, within six days we were shooting a live action trailer for Pamela Clare's DEFIANT. Because when I saw him in the studio I SAW Connor MacKinnon, and Pamela and I had chatted off and on about doing a trailer. But finding the right guy just never panned out. Until Karl showed up. That's a story for an entire blog post which you can find around here somewhere. I did learn that he stalked me online before e met, which is awesome, and should be expected. I guess he gets hit up by "photographers" often? *shivers* Creepy. So he checked me out and even tried to type one-handed. That's my little secret ;)

Ladies and gents, let me tell you one more thing about Karl, he's no dummy. He is incredibly intelligent, brave, well-spoken, educated and humorous. Yep, he's THAT guy. So please...say hello to Karl. Give him a warm welcome, because I want to keep him. :)

Guest Post with Cynthia Garner + Giveaway(International)

Cynthia Garner stopped by and shared her debut book KISS OF THE VAMPIRE with us in March when she went on tour with fellow paranormal author Stella Cameron. Today, she is sharing how she got into the paranormal genre as well as a little bit about the second book in her Warriors of the Rift series, SECRET OF THE WOLF.

Meet Cynthia:
Cynthia’s interest in writing got an early start when her sixth grade teacher told her class to complete the following sentence: “It was a dark and stormy night…” With that Cynthia’s love of all things paranormal was born.

She didn’t start writing with an eye toward publication until 1999. She had a few short stories win some contests and get published in now defunct publications. A move to Arizona in 2000 and a new job put her writing on hold. In early 2005 Cynthia couldn’t keep the stories inside any longer, and made the decision to focus on a writing career, beginning with electronic publishers. Under the pen name Sherrill Quinn, she signed her first contract in September 2005, and her first novella was published in March 2006. In 2009 the first of three Kensington Brava books was released.

Cynthia is very excited that her Warriors of the Rift series found a home with Grand Central Publishing. You’ll get to meet vampire Tobias Caine and half-demon Nix de la Fuente (KISS OF THE VAMPIRE), werewolf Victoria Joseph and human cop Dante MacMillan (SECRET OF THE WOLF), demon Finn Evnissyen and fey princess Keira O’Brien (HEART OF THE DEMON) plus many interesting secondary characters that make up the dark and dangerous preternatural world of the series.

By day Cynthia is a mostly mild-mannered Human Resources Manager for a non-profit organization. She’s originally from northeast Ohio and fled the snow over ten years ago to live in the heat of southeastern Arizona which, this time of year, is about to kill her.

Forever Blog Tour: Interview with Jill Shalvis + Giveaway (US)

The first time we had Jill Shalvis on the blog, she shared a little bit about the first book in the new Lucky Harbor trilogy featuring three friends who are brought together by a freak storm and a love of chocolate. Today she is sharing the other two books in that trilogy which have made our summer a fantastic one. You don't want to miss out on these books. Include them in your summer reading because you're in for a treat--love, laughter and a whole lotta smokin' hot inter-digitation.

Meet Jill:
New York Times, USA Today and Publishers Weekly bestselling author Jill Shalvis is the award-winning author of dozens of romance novels, including her popular Lucky Harbor books—Simply Irresistible, The Sweetest Thing, Head Over Heels, Lucky in Love, At Last and the upcoming Forever and a Day. She has been honored with the prestigious Romance Writers of America’s RITA Award for Simply Irresistible, and is a three-time recipient of the National Readers Choice awards. Recently, her book Animal Magnetism was named a Booklist Top Ten Romance Fiction list for 2011.

A voracious reader of a wide range of fiction, including romance, Jill aspired to be a journalist. She says “I got sidetracked in college with journalism, and it took a few years to realize I was meant for fiction, not nonfiction, but once I got there, I never looked back.” She sold her very first manuscript.

Jill’s writing day begins at six in the morning so that she can write before her family gets up. She points out that “if I so much as wake up the dog, it’s over, ” and says her favorite things about writing are “being at home in my pjs while working, being able to be there for the kids and raiding the refrigerator whenever I fell like it.”

A “misplaced city girl,” she lives with her family near Lake Tahoe, where she is working on her next book, writing her blog and awaiting the July 31 publication of her next Lucky Harbor novel, FOREVER AND A DAY.

Studio Smexy Saturdays: Model Jaci

A note from Jamie: We had the pleasure of meeting Jaci in person when we were in Denver and she's fabulous. She wasted no time getting ready and didn't bat an eye at getting wet. And well, who can blame her? She's gorgeous. I wish we had more time to get to know her but we have her here answering our questions.

A note from Jenn: JACI!!! Jaci is such a sweetheart, I'm so glad I found her, or she found me, or whatever it was! She is another one of the Facebook family tree kids. She commented on a cover image, asking how Andrew went about getting on a cover. Me, being the smart ass I am said he's pretty and he knows me, she came back with Hey, I'm pretty and I'd like to know you!! That made me smile so I messaged her, and we brought her in for a test. It was FABULOUS. Jaci is one of the MOST emotive models I have. She exudes passion, she knows how to work her angles and her body, and she just puts everything out there. It's a beautiful thing to see, and she is a total sweetheart to boot. I can't WAIT to see how much more we shoot together. :)

Review Tour: Melt Into You by Roni Loren + Giveaway (US/CA)

We've had the lovely Miz Roni Loren on the blog a few times before and her Loving On The Edge books are a must read/auto buy for us. Her stories grip you from the first page until the last and the covers are smoking hot. You know how we feel about covers here at Romancing Rakes For The Love of Romance :) Today, we've got a review for Melt Into You and it took Kati what seemed like ages trying to find words to justify the amazingness of this book.

Meet Roni:

Roni wrote her first romance novel at age fifteen when she discovered writing about boys was way easier than actually talking to them. Since then, her flirting skills haven’t improved, but she likes to think her storytelling ability has. Though she’ll forever be a New Orleans girl at heart, she now lives in Dallas with her husband and son. If she’s not working on her latest sexy story, you can find her reading, watching reality television, or indulging in her unhealthy addiction to rockstars, er, rock concerts. Yeah, that's it. She is the author of The Loving on the Edge series from Berkley Heat.

Hotties in Suspenders

We are BIG fans of suspenders on this blog. Like drool coming down in buckets completely obsessed with them. Every time we're near the guy in the picture above, we request he rock the suspenders at least once while we're in the vicinity. And like a total gentleman, he honors our request. Maybe it's the fantasy of grabbing those two straps and getting a little naughty action along the way that does it for us. Or it's the sound of elastic hitting flesh.

Who the hell cares? Let's just ogle some hotties in suspenders shall we?

Erotic Contemporary Review: Melt Into You by Roni Loren

MELT INTO YOU by Roni Loren
Series: Loving on the Edge #2
Format: paperback
Genre: Erotic Contemporary
Length: 368 pages
Publisher: Berkley Heat (July 3,2012)

Her first love has returned, and he's brought a friend...

After running away from home and the boy who broke her heart, Evan Kennedy has kick-started the perfect new life with her celebrity fiancé. So what if said fiancé prefers guys? She knew the deal. And with her ticket to The Ranch, an exclusive resort where any fantasy can be satisfied, she knows she can find someone to fulfill her less-than-traditional desires on the side.

She just never expected that man to be Jace Austin, her old heart-breaker—all grown up, hard-bodied, and holding out a collar. She knows it’s probably a world-class bad idea—especially since Jace has brought along his buddy Andre, who’s every bit as irresistible. But if they can stick to the no-strings rules, so can she.

Too bad Jace has never been so good with rules. Evan is convinced “forever” is a word used only in greeting cards, but Jace and Andre have one last fantasy of hers left to fulfill. It’s time to go big or go home. And neither man has ever been a fan of going home.

Studio Smexy Saturdays: Model Brittany

A note from Jamie: I'm not going to lie, but I have a serious girl crush on Brittany. Her pictures are beautiful but Brittany herself is gorgeous. We had the chance to see her in action when we visited #StudioSmexy in person and then got to hang out with her on location the next day. I'm pretty sure she will think twice about hanging out with us again since we took her to a lake and made her get wet. (And have you ever heard three girls screaming at the top of their lungs because of one little bug? Yup, pretty sexy huh? Like Jamie said, I bet Brittany will think twice about going out into the wild with us again.) But she's a trooper and we had fun. Enough from us, let's see what Brittany has to say.

A note from Jenn: Brittany is such a FUN girl, she can bring a beautiful fun smile or some serious sass and attitude. She is great with everything we toss her way and I love working with her. She has been incredibly popular since we started working together too because she can be just about anyone you want. But Brittany is one of my favorite girls because she has an easy fun attitude, and she's game for just about anything. When Jamie and Kati were here for RomCon it was DAMN HOTT outside, so we decided to get wet. I texted Brit and asked her if she was down to move our shoot to the lake and, well...yeah, she is awesome. Even when being tossed around like a backpack.

Double Erotic Review: Immersed in Pleasure + Submit To Desire by Tiffany Reisz

One of the best things I love about Tiffany Reisz stories is that they all take place in the same world. Whether you’re reading The Siren or the free reads on her website you’ll no doubt run into a familiar face, or two. So while I wait for The Angel, the sequel to The Siren, I read two novellas that Tiffany has out because I can’t get enough of her writing.

Torn by tragedy from her sheltered life in London, Lady Sarah is unprepared for the harshness of the frontier-or for the attraction she feels toward Connor. When they reach civilization, however, it is she who must protect him. For if her uncle knew all that Connor had done to save her, he would surely kill him.
