Interview with Alexia Reed + Giveaway

Today on the blog we've got Ms. Alexia Reed sharing her debut release Hunting the Shadows. A woman with extraordinary telepathic abilities, a researcher with a conscience and a serial killer on the loose. Sounds like a great read right? A bit of sci-fi, a dash of paranormal and a whole lot of romantic suspense.

Meet Alexia:

Alexia Reed is a dark paranormal romantic suspense author. You can find her on GoodreadsTwitter, and Facebook.

Jamie & Kati: Thanks for stopping by the blog Alexia!
Alexia Reed: Thanks for having me!

J&K: Who is Alexia Reed? (author, painter, international woman of mystery...)
AR: I am a paranormal romance lover and science geek—you’ll probably always find a touch of science in my writing. When I’m not writing, I am a Pinterest addict and sometimes painter (although not with any great frequency).

J&K: Tell us a little bit about HUNTING THE SHADOWS (no copying blurb)
AR: Hunting the Shadows is about a group of psychically enhanced individuals who were changed when they were babies and raised/trained to be agents. All their life they’ve done fought to keep their countries safe, under the veil of a secret shadow government. When the book starts off, the hero has had enough with all the experiments and taken the drastic measure to try and destroy the labs. But his bomb is tampered with and he ends up being captured and brought back. The heroine, who has lived her life locked up in the psych ward doesn’t know what it’s like to be outside. Her mind is too fragile to survive the thoughts and emotions of others. For awhile, she’s known about a killer. Her mind is constantly being pulled to his. She grasps onto the hero for help mentally, since he is the only one who will believe her and together, they work to figure out who is killing the enhanced agents.

J&K: What is that makes your hero and heroine perfect for each other?
AR: Under everything, they complement each other. When the book starts, they are strangers. J.C. doesn’t trust that she isn’t a spy and is willing to use her if it’ll help him track down the killer. Amy, is very open and naive, but she has the strenght of will to know what she wants. Every step of the way she matches J.C. Over the course of the book they grow to be friends and then more.

J&K: Plotter or pantser?
AR: Plantser? I’m not really sure I’m one or the other. I used to be a panster 100%. Now, what I found works best is pantsing the first draft (writing whatever scenes come to me first and plop them in the WIP), then plot it fully with those random scenes in the second draft. I’m slowly trying to transition myself into plotting first, but it’s difficult.

J&K: Do you have any writing rituals? (drinking wine, blasting music, eating chocolate...)
AR: Rituals...not really. I need background noise no matter what though. Whether it’s the tv or music, I need something. One thing though, that I have to do no matter what, is write in single space. I can’t do double. It drives me crazy and makes the inner critic voice just a bit louder when I write or edit.

J&K: If you could write an anthology with any 2 authors, who would they be and what would it be about?
AR: Oh difficult question! I’m not sure to be honest. There’s so many awesome authors out there. I suppose it would have to be a paranormal anthology. It would be very cool to be part of a zombie anthology, to be honest. But who? I’m not sure at all!

J&K: What can readers expect from you next?
AR: Next up on my plate is a new zombie project and book 3 of the Shadow Ops project series. I’m excited about both so I may end up writing them at the same time (which I never do!)

Amy has spent her life in isolation. Locked away in the Centre, a secret government facility where children with extraordinary abilities are raised as highly skilled fighters, she longs for a normal life. A life where being around people doesn't overload her sensitive telepathic mind. A life where she can't see through the eyes of a murderer as he hunts down his next victim...

J.C. Nikolaiev was a top researcher, but when his conscience got the better of him, he tried to destroy his work and free his subjects—and was imprisoned as a traitor. To save himself and prevent more people from dying, J.C. must catch the serial killer stalking the halls of the facility. But his only leads come from a woman whose thoughts have invaded his mind...

Finally out of the psych ward, Amy joins forces with J.C. to find the killer before he closes in on them. Can their growing attraction withstand the truths they uncover?
