Sealed with A Kiss: Tracey Devlyn + Giveaway

The lovely Tracey Devlyn is kicking off our Sealed with A Kiss event. Her letters are fun exchange between two secondary characters in her latest release.

WELCOME TO THE BLOG TRACEY!!!

Meet Tracey:
Tracey Devlyn writes historical romantic thrillers (translation: a slightly more grievous journey Toward the heroine’s happy ending). She’s a co-founder of Romance University, a group blog dedicated to readers and writers of romance, and Lady Jane’s Salon-Naperville, Chicagoland’s exciting new reading salon devoted to romantic fiction.

An Illinois native, Tracey spends her evenings harassing her once-in-a-lifetime husband and her weekends torturing her characters. For more information on Tracey, including her Internet haunts, contest updates, and details on her upcoming novels, please visit her website at: www.TraceyDevlyn.com.

Sophie Ashcroft and Teddy are two endearing secondary characters in my February release, Checkmate, My Lord. Throughout the story, you get a sense of their enduring friendship and budding love, despite their class differences. Of course, what is a great love story without a heroic end? Sorry to be a tease, but Teddy’s daring deed is one of my favorite scenes in Checkmate. Enjoy!

Mama said I should write to you and thank you for attending my 7th birthday celebration and for that other thing we can’t talk about. I really enjoyed hiding beneath the table with you and watching the adults chatter about. Well, except for that time when Mama was searching for me. I think I scared her a little. Anyway, I hope you’re enjoying the archer from Dragonthorpe Castle. He’s one of my favorite pieces. It’s too bad about his broken arrow, but that’s what that bad man gets for—um, being bad.

We’re off for London tomorrow, where Mama promises I’ll see all sorts of horses. I asked Mama if you could come with us, but she reminded me about your sick mama and about how much Guinevere depends on you. I do wish I could take Guinevere with me. I’ve wanted to ride her in Hyde Park for years.

Maybe you could come with us next time. Now that Mama is going to marry Bastian, we’ll be traveling to London often.

Do you want to go fishing tomorrow morning, before I leave?

Your forever friend,

  4. I love all them couples I have read upon~! Devil and Honoria from Stephanie Laurens' Devil's Bride might be my favorite from her Cynster series.

How do you come up with the stories for your character? Does the story come first before the characters or the other way around?

    1. Kipha, I love the Cynster series. Stephanie has a new book coming out in a couple months.

Maybe a little of both. In my debut novel, A Lady's Revenge, a picture of a woman strapped down in a dungeon came to me. I had not idea who she was or why she was in a dungeon. In Checkmate, I knew I wanted the story to take place in the country and that a widow would be forced to spy on him. That's it!

  6. I've always felt that Scarlett O'Hara and Rhett Butler are my very favorite romance couple. They loved, they spared and they adored each other. All of the fun things that you look for in a hero and heroine in a romance novel.

Tracy, I want you to know how much I am looking forward to reading "Checkmate, My Lord." It sounds like a perfect read with a intriguing hero and heroine. Thanks so much for the generous giveaway and congratulations on all of your successes! Wishing you many more.

  8. I have a lot of favorite couples. However, I do have one that stands out in my mind, and that's Kev and Winn, from Lisa Kleypas' "Seduce Me At Sunrise". Talk about a tortured hero, and a poor sick heroine. :-(

Thank you for this opportunity to win "Checkmate My Lord". It sounds an amazing, and wonderful read.

  23. Hmmm... hard question. I love/ or learn to love all sorts of characters from different books. However if I had to pick a couple/ couples that stand out for me it would be any of the Carpathian couples from Christine Feehan's Dark Series books. My first love will always be historical however I do occasionally read other genres.
I have never read anything from you. I do look forward to reading these books by you. The excerpt sounds great. Thanks,

  27. Hi Kati, Jenn, and Tracey!

I loved Tracey's furst book, A Lady's Revenge, and it's been a long wait but I can't wait to read Catharine and Sebastian's story, Checkmate, My Lord! I was so excited to find out on Tracey's website that her third book, A Lady's Secret Weapon was coming out in October!

My favorite romance couple were written many years ago by the historical romance author of all times, Cervantes! They are Don Quixote and Dulcinea!
After all who couldn't fall in love with a hero who sees only the best in his "heroine" no matter how she lives or by what means! I may give away my age by saying that they're my favorite couple since I read it as part of an English Class in High School back in the 1960's but that one book set the standard for me of what a "true hero" was!

I love all of her couples, but this one in particular was a favorite. I loved that she was able to reform a villain & that the heroine, Evie, had such spirit. Given she was a "wallflower", it was nice to see her stand up to Sebastian!
