Prima ballerina Catriona de Dovia lives the glamorous life of a starlet, filled with glittering jewels, sumptuous dinners, and admiring suitors. She’s grown up considerably since losing her heart to Hugh Curzon once upon a time, no longer wasting her emotions on the empty promises of charming gentlemen.
Scotland Yard Agent Phineas Gunn–sometimes known as Hugh Curzon has been unable to forget the trusting, beautiful Cate since he had to leave her behind in Barcelona. When Cate’s ballet company arrives in London, Scotland Yard asks Finn to investigate the premier dancer. It doesn’t take him long to suspect that Cate is more than a ballet girl––in fact, she just might be a jewel thief, or even more arousing––a clever undercover operative.
Finn is determined to find out as the two race across the Continent–by land, by sea, even through the air by zephyr–it becomes uncertain who is keeping tabs on whom, and Finn and Cate must battle the sexual tension that snaps and sizzles between them every step of the way.

I feel compelled to disclose to you that I am an intelligence operative for Special Branch Scotland Yard and on occasion, Naval Intelligence Division. When we met in Barcelona, I was tracking a shipment of explosives that ended up in a Beziers safe house. At this point, I assume you are aware of my involvement in the farmhouse explosion. I was a part of a bilateral covert operation with French forces, and to my regret, several members of Los Tigres were killed, including your brother, Eduardo de Dovia.
It must also confess, that as a part of my assignment, I devised to meet you, in hopes that you might unwittingly divulge information that would assist operatives in the pursuit of the illegal dynamite as well as the whereabouts of Los Tigres anarchists. Please be assured that we obtained the location of the hideout in Beziers. France, from an undercover informant, and that you in no way contributed to your brother’s demise.
I take full responsibility for the unnecessary hostilities that took place at the farmhouse. There is more in the way of explanation, but I have already disclosed too much to you. I can only say how sorry I am and to assure you that I did my utmost to curtail an overzealous assault that ended in tragedy.
Despite the fact that we met under less than honest circumstances, you have inspired an attachment of profound and lasting effect. What a joy it was to discover that I am in love with you Catriona de Dovia Willoughby, though my fear is that any chance of happiness for us has been forever dashed by my involvement in your brother’s death.
I harbor no hopes of rekindling your affection, but I do pray you might one day see fit to forgive me.
With fondest love,

Prima ballerina Catriona de Dovia lives the glamorous life of a starlet, filled with glittering jewels, sumptuous dinners, and admiring suitors. She’s grown up considerably since losing her heart to Hugh Curzon once upon a time, no longer wasting her emotions on the empty promises of charming gentlemen. On her own since the untimely death of her parents, she will do anything for the only family she has left: her brother, a notorious anarchist.
Scotland Yard Agent Phineas Gunn—sometimes known as Hugh Curzon—receives his new assignment reluctantly. He’s up for something a little more strenuous than playing nanny to a ballerina, until he sees who his charge is. Then, it’s a completely different story, because he’d been unable to forget the trusting, beautiful Cate since he had to leave her behind in Barcelona.
As the two race across the Continent—by land, by sea, even through the air by zephyr—it becomes uncertain who is keeping tabs on whom, and Finn and Cate must battle the sexual tension that snaps and sizzles between them every step of the way.

Hi Beebs!
DeleteLove that you love the series! Good luck!
Fave couples are impossible to pick! But I do really love Rose and Dimitri (from VA), Hardy and Haven (from Blue-Eyed Devil), Anne and Wentworth (from Persuasion) and Eve and Roarke (In Death). Thanks!!
ReplyDeleteHi Jess S,
DeleteGreat choices. Love all those couples!
Always have loved Scarlett O'Hara and Rhett Butler. Fabulous together!
ReplyDeleteHi Connie,
DeleteScarlett and Rhett are classic!
Aww his letter was fabulous. Now, I'm a bit anxious to read the book. :) As for romance heroes, I'm stuck on those boys from Kleypas's novels.
ReplyDeleteThanks Melissa!
DeleteOh yes, Agent Gunn is heart broken. Now you have to read the book to see if he and Cate can find a way back to each other! ;)
What a touching letter, I so hope they see past this, can't wait to read the book to find out. And I must say what a beautiful bracelet, Ana Karolina seems very talented, and so young, wow!
ReplyDeleteA favorite couple of mine is, Beth and Lucian, from An Unwilling Bride by Jo Beverley.
Hi Joy,
DeleteMy sister's name is Joy. I dedicated book #2 in the Scotland Yard series to her.
I tried to write the love letters as a kind of prologue to A Private Duel with Agent Gunn. I do hope you get a chance to see how Finn and Cate work through their troubles!
Also...I adore Jo Beverly!
Hmmm... The guy on the front of the cover for A PRIVATE DUAL WITH AGENT GUNN looks like Ian Somerhalder from the TV series Vampire Diaries. I like the cover art for your books by the way whether its him or not * winks*
ReplyDeleteI guess as far as couples go...lets see I'm going with some classic movies starring Rock Hudson and Doris Day. I think they made the cutest movies.
Thanks
Hi Beautiful Disaster!
DeleteThe model portraying Agent Gunn is Paul Marron, who has a fan club of romance readers who collect all his covers! And I do think Ian makes a beautiful vampire!
I caught a little Pillow Talk between Rock Hudson and Doris Day over the weekend...very cute!
This is a new series for me. I have many fav couples. Top 3 would have to be Cat & Bones from the Night Huntress series by Jeaniene Frost, Charles & Anna from Alpha & Omega series by Patricia Briggs, and Anita and her men from Anita Blake series by Laurell K Hamilton.
ReplyDeleteHi Chrisballs,
DeleteThough I have not read these heroines and heroes, I do thank you for sharing them with us.
I do hope you get a chance to read one of The Gentlemen of Scotland Yard novels. Good luck!
Another fave couple is Harper and Nick from MY ONE AND ONLY by Kristan Higgins.
ReplyDeleteI am looking forward to reading about Hugh and Cate!
Hi Cheryl C!
DeleteHarper and Nick are hot! And I do hope you get a chance to read Hugh aka Agent Gunn, and Cate's story. Good luck!
I love Elizabeth and Darcy... Westley and Buttercup.
ReplyDeleteElizabeth and Darcy...of course! And Westley and Buttercup...Lol! Great choices! Good luck!
DeleteI don't know what happened to my comment but I'll just say again that Jamie and Claire from Outlander and Eve Dallas and her gorgeous husband Roarke from the In Death series.
ReplyDeleteI have read all the great things said about this series and will start reading it so I can do so back to back.

Lol! This duel blog site, two letter thing is fun, but tricky! Good luck Carol!
DeleteThanks for joining us~ I love all your heroes in this series. Stephanie Laurens' Cynster couples, Julia Quinn's couples, Julie Anne Long's...Tessa Dare's, ETC~ I love them all!
ReplyDeleteOh, I agree. I love all of them!
DeleteThanks klpha!
I'll stick with the spy theme--Scarecrow and Mrs. King, from my favorite TV show in junior high, and Miles Dorrington and Henrietta Selwick from The Masque of the Black Tulip.
ReplyDeleteThis series sounds wonderful!
Hi Rebecca,
DeleteGreat TV couple choice! I have not read Lauren Willig 's books but I am intrigued. All those lovely, mysterious flower titles.
I hope you get a chance to read the Gentlemen of Scotland Yard series. Good luck!
It's so very hard to pick just one favorite couple. I'm bouncing back and forth from Jacob and Lady Lyssa from the Vampire Queen series by Joey W. Hill and Ludovic "Devil" DeVere and Diana Palmerston-Wriothesley in The Devil's Match by Victoria Vane.
ReplyDeleteDo you ever run out of ideas for books?
luvfuzzzeeefaces at yahoo dot com
Hi Julianne,
DeleteVictoria Vane is on my TBR list for sure! And I never run out of ideas for books, my biggest frustration is that I can't seem to write fast enough!
I love your books, thank you for the beautiful bracelet giveaway. Cat and Bones from the Night Huntress series are one of my favorite couples.
ReplyDeleteThanks Annwitch!
DeleteLove the Night Huntress series, and good luck!
This sounds like a really good story. I love when characters have secrets and this sounds like it would be very interesting to see how/if the the heroine can forgive the hero for his part in her brother's death, even though it seems like he tried as much as possible to prevent his death.
ReplyDeleteHi June,
DeleteOh, I do hope you get to read A Private Duel with Agent Gunn to see how how much more mysterious their relationship becomes and how these two head strong people work through it! ;)
Love Miranda & (Lord Benjamin) Archer from Kristen Callihan's Firelight.
ReplyDeleteWonderful choice, Linda. Good luck!
DeleteAWW beautiful bracelet. Your books looks incredible!
ReplyDeleteHi Lily,
DeleteI just received the bracelet from Ana Karolina and it's wrapped in the prettiest box with a sultry black satin ribbon!
My favorite couple is Scarlet O'Hara and Rhett Butler.
ReplyDeleteHi Cathy P,
DeleteRhett and Scarlett right up there at the top of the memorable couples list.
Eve and Roarke....
ReplyDeleteEve and Roarke are definitely in the top five, along with Rhett and Scarlett, Elizabeth and Darcy, Jamie and Claire, Westley and Buttercup.
DeleteHugh Curzon, what an upright honest man you are. A true gentleman any woman would be thankful to know...unless said woman is engaging in nefarious activities. In that case....your wonderful confessions may scare her off!
ReplyDeleteGreat letters Gjillian!
Romance couple, can Mac and Barrons be included even though they aren't technically in 'romanceland'? They still make my knees weak.
Thanks Lexi H,
DeleteSo happy you are intrigued by the letters! Hugh aka Agent Gunn is truly haunted by the few days he had in Barcelona with Cate.
I have heard such great things about the Fever series! Must read soon!
I loved the letter. One of my favorite couples is Rachel Hollister and Joseph Paxton in Summer Breeze by Catherine Anderson.
ReplyDeleteHi Ellen,
DeleteGlad you enjoyed the letter. And I have heard wonderful things about Catherine Anderson's novels. Good luck!
lovely letter! One of my favorite couples is Kyle Rhodes (aka the Twitter Terrorist) and Rylann Pierce from Julie James' About that Night.
ReplyDeleteThanks Kristy!
DeleteWow, I'm learning about so many favorite couples! Good luck!
My favorite are from Pride and Prejudice - Elizabeth Bennett Mr. Darcy.
ReplyDeleteHi Maureen,

So many, it's hard to choose, but I'll narrow it down to Rhett & Scarlett and also Baby & Johnny (Dirty Dancing)!
