Jamie's Juicy Tidbits: Comfort Reads

This past week has been a rough one for me. I won't rehash everything but I've been sick, and needless to say I've been miserable. And I've been so miserable that I haven't even read any books. Yeah, you read that right.

I find that when I'm sick I prefer to pick up an old favorite to read. That way you don't have to concentrate too much on what's going on. Plus, it's always better to have old friends make you feel better. So what are some of my go to rereads that make me feel better?

1. Lord of Scoundrels by Loretta Chase

2. The Secret Diaries of Miss Miranda Cheever by Julia Quinn

3. The Wallflower Series by Lisa Kleypas

I think it's funny that all my comfort reads are historicals. Though maybe not since historicals are what got me started.

So my Juicy Tidbit for this week is... when you're feeling under the weather curl up with an old favorite to make you feel better.

  1. Golly, Jamie! Have you had that awful flu that's going around? I know so many people who had gotten it and it has made them so sick for so long. I sure do hope you're feeling better by now. I got a bad flu several years ago that knocked me on my butt and I couldn't do anything but sleep. No appetite either. Now, I could use a bit of "no appetite" right now, but - nah - I don't want the rest of it. You must take it very easy for awhile, OK?

I can't really say that curling up with an old favorite is necessarily comforting when I'm sick when there are so many NEW favorites out there waiting to be read. And - yes - I'm a historical romance junkie. I can never get enough of them.

Again, take care and feel better soon! All the best!

  5. I've had an absolutely appalling week, and the highlights have been curled up in bed reading. The Wallflower Series (especially The Devil In Winter)and The Secret Diaries of Miss Miranda Cheever are definitely great comfort reads. Or anything by Julia Quinn and Lisa Kleypas really!
But I've been consoling myself this week by reading the ugly duckling books by Manda Collins :)
    Hope you feel better!
