Guest Post with Britt Bury + Giveaway (US)

Debut author Britt Bury has built quite a dark, dangerous and alluring world in The Immortal Heat Series. Today she is sharing a little bit about her recent release as well as the origins of her two warring factions. She is also trying to get us to stalk authors during RWA at the end of this month. Britt, we may end up getting all our signatures via restraining orders. But hey, they're still signed by our favorite authors, right???

WELCOME TO THE BLOG BRITT!!!

Meet Britt:
Britt Bury writes paranormal romance where the immortals are fierce, the stakes are high, and desire can be deadly.

Britt was raised in Corvallis, Oregon and attended Oregon State University majoring in Liberal Studies. When her dream of being a professional karaoke star and Elvis impersonator didn’t pan out, she turned to writing. She currently lives in the Silicon Valley with her brilliant husband, two sons and an obscene amount of fish.

Britt's first paranormal romance released July 3, 2012 with Grand Central's imprint: Forever Yours. Britt is represented by Jill Marsal of Marsal Lyon Literary Agency.

Thanks so much for having me ladies! I’m really excited to be here. It has been such a great month and despite my random bouts of peeing my pants (I seriously need to get a handle on this) and anxiety attacks, I’m still looking forward to going to RWA and redistributing myself into society again. Kati and Jamie, you will be there too, right?  (Haha, we're so there. My hopes are to stalk—I mean meet—some amazing authors, have a few drinks and learn more about the craft of writing and the industry. My only problem is, how can I do this without making a total fool out of myself? Good question. At RT this last year, I embarrassed myself on more than one occasion. I wish I was a suffer in silence type, but unfortunately, my panic attacks come on when a crowd is at its max and the noises I make when attempting to breathe sound similar to a choking wildebeest. From there, I just start sweating profusely and no antiperspirant on the planet can save me. Plus, I always forget my glasses and my vision is one step up from a bat’s at high noon. So if you stumbled across a woman squinting violently while grossly perspiring, convulsing, and giving off noises that sound like a wounded bison…fear not. That’s just me, losing my cool. Anyone wanna hang out? (We do!)

Origin of the Fionn
When the earth was still young, gods and goddesses watched from the heavens as man warred, suffered, loved and died. After a brutal battle, only three men remained; united brothers by heart, but not blood.
Upon seeing the fierce warriors fall, three gods swooped to earth to heal them. One whispered in their ears and persuaded their lungs to take breaths. One touched their wounded muscles, coaxing them to mend. The last god pressed his bloodstained finger to the men’s chests, over their heart, and called for magic to make them rise.

And so, the immortal Fionn was born. Three men, harboring three cast of magic.

But a man, even an immortal one, is not without weakness. When the warriors found their fated mates, then they were truly complete. They fought not for their own lives, but for their female’s. In turn, each woman bore the warrior a son. And each son harbored a single Fionnic trait. The house of Campbell, the house of MacAvoy and the house of Thompson watched their sons grow and thrive. With magic in his voice, the Poet son of MacAvoy persuaded their enemies to retreat. With magic in his muscles, the Warrior son of Thompson fought viciously against any foe. And with magic in his blood, the Mystic son of Campbell cast his wrath down on any who betrayed the clan. The Fionn race grew, producing sons and daughters with a single trait. Forever a faction to be respected and feared.

Origin of the Pookah
Since the beginning of time, savage beasts have roamed the earth, hunting man. But one warrior refused to cower. He killed the bear that stalked him, the Razorback that charged him, and the Wolverine that clawed him. Surrounded by his kills, the warrior fell, his skin littered with bites. Admiring his ferocity, a god soared from heaven and bestowed immortality, forever fusing the instinct of the beasts within.

Upon scenting his mate, the Pookah was claimed for eternity. Bound to love and protect the only female that soothed the beast within him. She bore him triplet sons. Each male a fraction of his father’s thrice animalistic instinct. The Razorback, the Wolverine, and the Bear Pookah grew to men, each thriving—struggling—with the beast within. All were strong, yet guided in different ways. The darkness ruled the Razorback. The coaxing pheromones from the Wolverine brought waves of desire and despair. And the internal rage of the bear trapped him within a body he couldn’t control.

It is said, only the mate of a Pookah can tame the wildness within.

  7. Although I rarely read a paranormal or SciFi/Fantasy novel, I truly admire paranormal and SciFi writers because the world building is incredible. You have to create words, universes, animals, language, history, backstory, science, religions...everything! Depending on what side of the creationism vs evolution debate you land on, our current world with all its facets took 2000 or billions of years to create. Authors like you take only months. It's really incredible, IMHO.
