Inspired by the tale of Rapunzel, Lila DiPasqua offers a new steamy, emotionally charged historical romance in the acclaimed Fiery Tales Series . . . Rescuing this beauty from the ‘tower’ is only the beginning . . .
Maintaining her ruse as a commoner, and trusting no one has kept Angelica safe. But a chance encounter with a handsome stranger lands her right where danger lies. Now, this sinfully handsome man with arresting blue eyes and a polished manner thinks he’s saved her life, when in fact he’s placed her in great peril. She’s intent on keeping him and everyone else at arm’s length. Yet, the smoldering attraction between them is difficult to deny. And impossible to ignore . . .
As commander of a number of privateer ships, Simon Boulenger dresses and speaks like an aristocrat, and has obtained wealth. But he is still not a noble. Or an officer in the King’s Navy. His lifelong dream to elevate himself from his station of birth and attain a respectable place in society is dead. Worse, he’s ensnared in a deadly scheme, and must get out. But how is he to stay focused on his dangerous mission when the mysterious beauty has him utterly intrigued? He can’t afford the distraction any more than he can resist the carnal hunger she stirs. Simon soon discovers that she’s not only a passionate soul mate, but a woman born into privilege. A woman he can never have. But they’re in too deep. Their hearts are at risk . . . as well as their lives.

What happens when Rapunzel is rescued from The Tower by a handsome prince? Sexy, steamy and heartbreaking comes to mind especially when it's given the Lila DiPasqua treatment.
After reading Undone I broke out Tangled (yes, judge all you want) and my book of fairy tales to brush up on the Rapunzel story. Lila's book isn't something to give to your kids to read but since we're all grown ups here, we can read it to our hearts content.
1. Rapunzel- Angelica ran away from home after her mother's death because of her evil stepfather. Unlike Rapunzel with her flowing golden locks, Angelica has chestnut colored hair. Like Rapunzel, she was rescued by a dashing hero who is drawn to her lovely singing. She has lived a quiet and sheltered life in the convent and she intends to keep it that way. Until a handsome stranger comes along and opens up a whole new world to her.
2. The Evil Witch- In this case, the witch in the story can be one of two characters. The new Mother Superior who is very strict and hits Angelica for leaving the convent at night to help in the village or her evil stepfather who is a greedy, greedy man. He's dipping into the government fund to build a chateau to rival the king's.
3. The Tower- Angelica has been kept safe from the evils of the world in a convent. It is her sanctuary far, far away from a horrible past. Who did this handsome privateer think he was, coming in and taking her and her friend away from the safety of the convent?
4. The Dashing Prince- Simon Boulenger is a privateer for the King of France. He knows there's something fishy going on with the Finance Minister and he intends to get to the bottom of it. He just has to rescue his moonlight beauty, keep himself from jumping her at every encounter and deliver her to her family. Sorry dashing rescuer, easier said than done.
Simon knows that he, a commoner, cannot be with Angelica, a noble. It defies everything he's ever know. Sure he's got money from privateering but that doesn't change what class he was born in. Angelica is too good, too pure for the likes of him.
Angelica and Simon both have secrets that has built a chasm between them and to top it off, Angelica is running from the man Simon is trying to prove is stealing from the government. Now the question becomes, will Simon stay with Angelica and weather it through after he finds out the man is Angelica's stepfather or will he give up on them because of Angelica's stepfather?
She thought she'd buried her past and would never have to deal with it again. But a French privateer with seductive blue eyes and a magic touch had entered her life and effortlessly shaken the foundations of her carefully guarded world, more than he could ever know.OVERALL: In Lila DiPasqua form this book took my favorite elements of the Rapunzel fairy tale and gave it a sexy, erotically charged twist, hot enough to melt edible panties off. From the first moment Angelica and Simon run into each other (literally) the sparks fly and on the journey to the island of Marguerite they combust and burn, hot enough to turn the ship into ash (if they were like the Human Torch). Angelica is headstrong and fights for those who can't stand up for themselves. Simon is one broody, moody and almost constantly erect hero. If I got a dollar for every time Simon had a hard-on, I would have enough money to buy some romance books I've been coveting. Undone is a fairy tale of love, loss, heartbreak, a heartwarming ever after wrapped in a smoldering, erotically stimulating bow. I look forward to Ms. DiPasqua's next book.
P.S. The dedication made me cry.
